a first listen of Lady In Water is online now at Soundtrack.net and here is a link. |
Following up on what Nate said...
There’s an article on one of the James Newton Howard scoring sessions called “Music for a Bedtime Story” over on SoundtrackNet. Dan Goldwasser’s article includes 27 terrific photos.
Review of the score with sound clips on STN’s First Listen. |

JNHFC!!!!! I love Unbreakable especially, along with The Fugitive, The Postman, Waterworld, all other M. Night stuff too, Peter Pan (all but the "I do believe in faeries!" junk) Atlantis... Ok, I just really like JNH. _________________ I can see right through you... |

alright so a question for everyone in the JNHFC....what is your favorite JNH CD out of all of his works? Or if that is too tough a question, what JNH do you listen to the most?
I would say personally that out of all of my JNH CD's I listen to the Village the most (love all of the violin work in this one) followed closely by Dinosaur (the adventure and soaring themes in this score are awesome). Alright so now it is your turn..... _________________ "My Logic is Undeniable" - I, Robot |

Unbreakable. Definitely Unbreakable. Followed closely by Waterworld. And I listen to The Village a lot, too. _________________ I can see right through you... |

I love James Newton Howard! He's one of my favorite composers at the moment and am always eager to hear what he produces. Especially when he works with M. Night Shyamalan. His Shyamalan scores always turn out wonderful. <3 JNH Fan Club. _________________ - Kevin |

It is too tough. But when I just want to relax or have some JNH playing in the background while working, I put on The Man In The Moon (especially "Dani Brings Court Water") and Grand Canyon for its lovely main theme.
At the other end of the spectrum, Hidalgo ("The Final Three") and The Postman ("Main Title") never fail to give me goosebumps!
btw - JNH will receive the Golden Score Award for Film Composition by the American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers (ASMAC) on September 29, 2006. Recent Golden Score Award winners include Lalo Schifrin, Michel Legrand and Patrick Williams. |

Thx Twopop for the information about the award. Is he winning the award for a specific work or is it more of an award for his contribution to the composing community?
As an addition to my last response, I have been listening to Lady in the Water a ton recently and it is quickly becoming another favorite JNH. It is truly amazing how he seems to be able to get better with each subsequent M. Night film. Absolutely Magnifique!! |

The Golden Score Award is given out to individuals who have made a significant impact in the film music industry; its parent organization, the ASMAC, is comprised mainly of orchestrators/arrangers. _________________ Do NOT click this link!

James Newton Howard is great! i just picked up "The Man in the Moon" it's refreshing to hear a softer side of his work. I have yet to hear "Lady in The Water" " but "The Village" still remains my favorite of his so far. |

I would love to hear more of Man in the Moon. I only hear it on here, and not very often, at that. People always pick something else of his to req... _________________ I can see right through you... |

This post is a shameless attempt at keeping the James Newton Howard Fan Club thread towards the top of the Community forum
Also, SuperCarol, you're right. Man in the Moon does have some great sounds. It's one of my wife's favotites movies, so even though I don't own it (the ST), I know it.
JNHFC! greatness |
