Wow. We haven't bought much that was not a soundtrack lately, it seems. We don't even seem to have gotten much for Christmas. Well, I did get The Crane Wife by the Decemberists, which I absolutely love. I hope those guys write a musical.
Much more recently I took a chance on the original London Cast recording of a musical called The Fix. I heard the opening number on the radio once and it's really catchy. Not sure what I think about the rest of the album. It's a British musical satirizing American politics. As such, I think it tries to be too clever and doesn't succeed. Anyway, you can hear samples here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000064SV/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=IK8ACM8U5CKTH&colid=12O7Y38CPCH7T |

Cool! I love that this thread is still going!
The last non-soundtrack CD I actually bought and got in my hands was Don't Forget To Remember by a not very well known British band called Puressence.
But, technically the last CD I bought was Accelerate by REM - preordered, obviously. And I can't wait to get it! |

I bought "Seven Seas" by Macromé online (the mp3's, not the physical CD). It's OK, if you are into New Agey stuff.

HAd the new REM CD for a while now. I absolutely love it! I know a lot of people didn't like Around The Sun (their last album) but I thought that was good too. This album, though, blows it and many other recent albums away. It's the album Monster should have been. Any one else got it? |

Well, I know this isn't a CD but I have just found out that you can download, in it's entirety, free, officially, legally the new Nine Inch Nails album from their website! I haven't actually downloaded it yet - but I thought some of you out there might like to know. For those of you who don't know Nine Inch Nails - it can be an...um... acquired taste! |

At the Pequot Library book sale last weekend, picked up a few things. 2 soundtracks (described in the appropriate thread) and two other albums. One is a collection of Christmas music from medieval Hungary. The other is Dare to be Stupid, possibly Weird Al's greatest album. |
