Each year, the World Soundtrack Awards, as part of the Flanders International Film Festival in Ghent, Belgium, celebrates the art of film scoring worldwide.

Next October 14th it will happen again, with the following awards given out in these categories:
    Soundtrack Composer of the Year
Best Original Soundtrack of the Year (Orchestral)
Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film.
Discovery of the Year (emerging film composing talent)
    Public Choice Award
We are very honored to be part of this event and I thought it would be cool to invite you all to participate. Everybody can vote in the Public Choice Award category by clicking here. You are free to vote until September 15th.

More than 45 composers will be attending the ceremony so I hope I can get lots of pictures to show you! Smile

Wow... I never realised there're so many soundtracks that I've yet to listen to. Most of the composers I've heard and I really like. Looks like it's time to save up on the cash for a splurge at the local CD store soon.

And for the record, yeah, I'm glad about King Kong too. From what I remembered when watching the movie at the theatre, I think it's about time too.

I am, I must admit however, a John Williams and Danny Elfman die-hard fan. I just love their stuff. My vote would probably swing depending on my mood at the time...

Hisaishi is up for 3 movies, Yamato, A Chinese Tall Story, and Welcome to Dongmakgol. My personal favourite is Dongmakgol. Excellent movie as well.

Crazy, totally crazy. Iglesias, Howard and Powell?? What are they doing there? I don't think Howard's score for King Kong is so good.

What I don´t really understand yet is that liking for Brokeback Mountain, a correct score, but no more. There are dozens of scores better than this one. I think that this WSA Awards are influenced a big deal by the Academy Awards (and this is not a good thing).

And I clap the inclusion of Marianelli's Pride & Prejudice.

The BIG question: Where is Patrick Doyle?? Where are his great Potter and Nanny McPhee?

And my question is: where is "The Wedding Song" from Corpse Bride? That one is the best original song written for a film this year.

Just wondering, what can I expect of a event like this. Is it a suit/tie thing? I am seriously considering to go, but have no idea what to expect and to wear.
