|
I noticed a substantual increase in the server-side trouble with the stream lately. In the last two weeks I've seen four times that the stream just falls silent. The Now Playing bar at the top of the website will say "We will return to the music in a moment..." and the stream falls silent for everybody, according to the people in the chatbox. This silence usually takes ~30 minutes. During the silence, requests don't add up to the queue and when the silence is over any requests that were done during the silence will be added to the queue but without a name or comment message (though the request timer is triggered). Afterwards, the music just continues where it left off in the queue (it doesn't skip anything). Also, it seems to always happen between tracks as far as I could tell, never halfway a track. I'm not entirely sure, but it seems to occur mainly during the off-hours (after midnight on European time, or later in the evening on east-coast American time). During the silences, the website seems to be in good shape still, unaffected.
Those are the observations I've made and remembered.
Perhaps this is due to a recent update of software or hardware, or a lack thereof. It is very common for a stream to be offline once in a while and SST has a relatively good uptime still compared to what I'm used to, but compared to the first few months I've listened to it the past few weeks have been a bit more silent on SST.
If you have made any further observations, please add them to the topic! Hopefully it can help the system administrators or the hardware owners to solve this, or prevent it from degrading further. |

When the stream is down, just notify the mods who are around. They will find their way to admins like me. |
