Sorry, Obi-son, but at the beginning of this topic, you will notice there is a no-Buffy rule. Please stick to it. It's my thread, and I'm asking nicely. |

Okay...
Somewhere over the rainbow just hit my hate list.
I am sick of this track and it has been requested twice this evening... YARGH!!!! _________________ Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate... leads to suffering. |

Straight into the "hate" factor Wolf?!
I see you skipped "fear" and "anger"...
Let's hope that "suffering" is skipped too _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Especially 'Flipper'...

That track from Eyes Wide Shut - I think it's "Musica Ricercata II" - with the two-finger piano "motif"; and the one that sounds like a Chant choir from heck
Also anything with a little kid singing who can't sing in tune - "When You're Alone" from Hook is one of them

I seem to recall my reaction to the score for "Eyes Wide Shut" while watching the movie - jaw-dropped disbelief. This was a score? Two fingers on a piano? Never did grow on me. |

...well, it's not only 2 fingers in the later development. I know that because I've got the score... _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

Well, I had no use for the movie, either. And for me, those two things go hand in hand. |

I'm really sorry for all who vote it, but I do not like all the "Unearthed"-tracks from E.S.Posthumus - always switching off my volume when one of them is playing.
BTW: Is that even a soundtrack???

No, it's not a soundtrack, but it's featured in so many trailers that it certainly qualifies as "movie music" and is included here for that reason.

I'm hurt because I've discovered that one of my favorite songs is listed here. My pleasure and joy in requesting this track has just been taken away. I thought I was bringing joy and pleasure to others by selecting it and I see that isn't the case - even though it's extremely popular. I will never be able to request that song again with this knowledge.
Get real - the purpose of this thread is to stop others, so they won't request songs that are on the "black list" of hated songs.
I came to SST & fell in love with it's diversity of music and the freedom of choice. Our choice of music is as unique as each one of us and each track we love is unique to each of us and encompasses our experiences and who we are as individuals. Who knows the reasons why we have emoitional ties to certain songs.
I would hope that this community would take the high road and treat each other with dignity and respect for each others feelings and opinions. Heaven knows the world is full of people hurting one another.
When you list songs you hate - please keep in mind the requestors are reading it. Would you tell someone that you hate the clothes they are wearing? This forum is read by a lot of people - so please think about how it will affect them when they read this.
You say you want to vent - but at who's expense?

I'm sorry that you feel as if you can't request your favorite tracks, Angela12. I'm sure that was not the intent of the poster or of this thread. Remember, we have hundreds listening at any one time, and the odds are that any track played will be enjoyed and disliked, at different levels, by many listeners. Why would you deprive yourself and others of the enjoyment they get because of one or two complaints? You say yourself that it is extremely popular.
As for the community taking the high road...I don't think we're as low as you make it seem. Not everybody is going to love every track. I have no problem with someone saying that they don't like a certain track. I often express my dislike of a certain soundtrack, and yet it still gets played and others still enjoy it. Folks here certainly have the right to dislike a track and to make that opinion known. If someone loves a track I hope that they can and will express that as well. I've been a member of many online communities and I find that the SST community of one of the most respectful communities around. We have our moments, but at the end of they day we still hang out and enjoy the music together.
Would I tell someone that I hate their clothes? No. But, I see a difference between that and a requested track. To me clothes are "yours" and as such are a more direct reflection of you, whereas a requested track is not "yours", but rather the artists. A dislike of the artist or track should not be confused with dislike of the requester. I'm glad that you're passionate about the music that you feel that it is "yours" but please don't take it personally when someone does not appreciate something the same way you do.
I'm sure I'm not able to fully express myself here, but I hope you at least get a sense of what I'm trying to say.

@Angela12: Nobody thinks less of you because you requested a track somebody or other didn't like. Tastes in music are just plain different, and sometimes it feels good to let off steam...
I doubt that you are only requesting the one song somebody criticized here, so... just ignore his or hers or their opinion! If the track gives you joy, request it all you want!
As a matter of fact, I seem to recall people complimenting you on your taste in music in the chat, so you can't be too wrong with your picks!
BTW, isn't there a single track around here that you dislike? And do you hate the person who requested it?

I think that the point I was trying to convey was missed. I'm simply saying that diplomacy and allowing people to express themselves without voicing any opinions about it or judgement is the ideal way for harmony and peace - albeit it's not an ideal world.
That being said, of course there are some traks played (over and over) that I can't stand. I simply hit the pause button or mute.
Alien - thanks for the compliment!! That makes me happy to know that some people are enjoying my requests!! _________________ "Carpe Diem" |
