(November 30, 2015 – Los Angeles, CA) – This holiday season, revisit the classics with Corky Hale’s HAVE YOURSELF A JAZZY LITTLE CHRISTMAS. The album, which was originally released in 1999, is now available through all digital platforms, and on CD via Amazon.com, CDBaby.com and other online retailers.
Renowned jazz harpist, pianist and vocalist Corky Hale was born in a small mid-western farm town and started taking piano lessons at age three, began studying piano at the Chicago Conservatory at the age of seven, and harp at the age of eight. She’s well known throughout the pop and jazz communities for her harp playing, accompanying everyone from Liberace to Tony Bennett, Chet Baker, James Brown, Bjork and George Michael. She’s also an accomplished pianist – performing with such greats as Mel Tormé and Peggy Lee. She has sung with the bands of Harry James, Ray Anthony and Jerry Gray. Corky was the only female piano accompanist for Billie Holiday.
Corky is very active in women’s health issues, serving on the boards of WRRAP and NARAL. She and her husband Mike Stoller (of the writing team Leiber & Stoller), in partnership with Planned Parenthood, have built three state-of-the-art health centers in Los Angeles. In 2013 the Southern Poverty Law Center dedicated the “Mike Stoller and Corky Hale Stoller Civil Rights Memorial Theatre” in Civil Rights Plaza in Montgomery, AL.
