OK, it's official: Ennio Morricone will be in concert at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on 03 Feb 2007, his first concert ever in the US.
http://www.enniomorricone.it/eventi.htm
This is a dream come true for all Morricone fans and I'm sure tickets will sell fast. This would also be a marvelous opportunity for we SSTers to get together for an evening that will not long be forgotten.

Now is the time to start planning. Who's interested in going? Does anyone have ideas of where we could meet in New York near RCMH? Do any SSTers have connections that could help us score tickets in bulk?

I couldn't think of a better way for the SST community to come together than by seeing the most prolific and influential film composer of all time!

Wow, thanks everyone for the heads-up and the links to ticket info. I'm going! Smile

Group booking sounds good to me but we'll need an exact count of folks before Oct 20th. The link that Sound_Track posted mentions the same phone number for group booking as well.

Could everyone who's going please respond to this thread saying so?

I'm definitely in for a pair of tickets to this one. Should be amazing. How are we going to coordinate the group purchase though?? Either way, I'll be there Wink

I have to admit, I'm a total amateur when it comes to getting tickets to concerts of this scale. I just rarely go to concerts to begin with, and I've and certainly never been to a concert like this one. I'm willing to head this up, but I don't know if I'm the best person to do so. Serendipitously, I'm actually taking Friday off, so I would be able to devote time to waiting on the telephone, if necessary. I wonder if it would actually be better though to buy them at the box office in New York.

First things first, though: we have to get a head count of committed people. I'm totally committed, although I'll need more information on the various ticket prices between the $60 and the $200. It sounds like pmf and BP are in. I'm in. Anyone else?

As far as getting the money together, I'm an amateur at this type of thing as well, but I wonder if SST/Jeric might be able to collect the money through PayPal, that way we make sure we have the funds before purchasing the tickets. Jeric are there legal problems associated with the business in doing this?

On second thought, since I have a PayPal account, I guess money could be sent to my account just as well. But I'll be just like hundreds of other people trying to get tickets. Do we know of any one else who has a better chance of getting us tickets?

I unfortunately do not have any hook-ups in the world of event ticket sales. The concert is not even posted on Ticketmaster.com, which is kind of weird given that they usually post events on their site to let the public know when ticket sales will start.

We may be forced to fend for ourselves here. According to the link posted by Sound_Track, tickets sales are supposed to start at 10AM. Is that eastern time? I think I'll call TM here in Canada and the NYC numbers provided and hope for the best unless we (SSTers) manage to get an inside track.

We could each try and get tix for the entire group and exchange phone numbers so that if one of us makes the purchase he/she can call the others to let them know.

I really want to go and am looking
into the details for myself. I hope
to meet you all, there.

Just look for the guy with the bald
head and Monica outfit.

Oh man... it would be a dream come true to go!

Living in the Midwest doesn't help, either. Sad

Those of you who make it there, have a great time!!

OK, I found out more details today. The ticket prices are $60 - 3rd Mezzanine, $125 - 2nd Mezzanine, $150 - rear of 1st Mezzanine, and $200 - front of the 1st Mezzanine, in front of the orchestra. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday for individual tickets, but group sales start on Monday the 23rd. They reserve blocks of tickets for groups of 10 or more.

Ticket Master is not showing the concert on their website yet and I talked to a Ticket Master rep today who said if it's not showing up right now, it'll probably register on Thursday night, which is when they post the new concerts. So to me, it sounds safer to get them through Radio City Music Hall, either individually of through group sales.

Let me know if you'd like to do group.

OK. I am definitely going. I am
not sure about buying tickets all
at once as some may want to sit
in different areas. Anyone want
to spend $200 or for the best
possible seats? I will be look-
ing to get pretty close.

Also, is anyone going to stay at
a downtown hotel? I may elect to
do this and perhaps we could meet
there, afterwards, for a few, if
they have a bar or something like
that. If not, any local establish-
ment will do, so long as we can be
together and have a great time.

I am really looking forward to see-
ing Ennio, as this may be a first
and last event of its kind. What's
more, seeing all of you is just as
much a draw for me. Knowing that
Blue, BP and Jeric (possibly), Zir
and maybe Nate and others might go,
makes it imperative that I be there.

Anxiously awaiting,

Pete

Glad you're coming Pete! Very Happy
I've worried about the difference in ticket prices as well. I'm willing to pay the $150 price, but if I could score seats in the first few rows of the 2nd Mezzanine, those would probably be better seats at $125 than sitting somewhere in the back on the 1st Mezzanine. You never know. Bottom line: it will be spectacular, no matter where we're sitting, and getting together before or afterwards will be wonderful.

So what are people willing to pay if we go in on group seats?
