I like the monthly VIP option becuase I listen at work and I'm always afraid the Man may take streaming away
I can understand the need for change and support initiatives for the greater good (i.e. keeping the site alive and kickin')

Well ok then, no red VIP's.. I can live with that.
I will try to explain again what I mean...
Well.. I was just wondering, if you pay to become a VIP, is it normal to make donations too?
And how much donations (thats the word I got wrong, I called it spend) is normal to give?
And I'm also wondering how the money is used.
ok.. hope I got that right now.. looking forward to the changes

Just a thought...change whatever you want, but keep the donation meter?
That way people can keep on donating if they feel like it.
...you can never have enough money, can't you?
I've thought about becoming a VIP from the moment I discovered this site...not that I've anything even remotely resembling what some people call 'disposable income' _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

And I also think VIP should maybe have another colour in chat, like red.(cos its my fav. color ) |
We tried that and it didn't go ever too well. It created too much segregation in the community. |
What about a different color for the "Online Now" listing? |

The elite forum is still elite, SnowLeopard. It will be replaced by a VIP only VIP forum at some point.
I feel your pain, curiousity.

Jeric,
Change is good. It is a time of growth. I, for one, see this change as a positive and fully support it. Sounds like you have things well in hand.
I am more than happy to become an new SST VIP!
Remember, the one thing that never changes is the fact that change always occurs.
For those of us who are L365ers, can you suggest a better media player to use in it's place? _________________ Some people are like slinkies.. they are not really good for anything..BUT.. they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs. |

What is the definition of elite? Is that the equivalent of VIP or is it just the SST crew (admins, etc)? _________________ "After dark all cats are leopards." - Native American Proverb |

This link lists all the listening options:

You can use any, my personal choice is Winamp. |

Don't worry about it, SnowLeopard. Just know that there will be a new VIP only forum.

It won't have categories. It'll just be another forum, like General, Community, etc. There's no telling what topics it may contain. Become a VIP and find out.

I support the majority of the changes, but still think it's a good idea to keep the donation meter for 1-2 months after the changes in case there aren't enough VIP sign-ups or maybe you could change it to a meter that keeps track of the VIP funds instead.
Also, if you need to raise non-VIP times, go ahead since you need enough VIPS to keep the station running, but please don't make the non-VIP times too high so newer members stick around. |

The elite forum was mostly die hard old timers. It's being phased out mostly because it is hard to maintain the list and I don't like creating what could be considered a popularity contest.
The idea about the red in the online now is pretty cool. You may want to submit that in the idea forums once we get all of this running. We'll be very busy at first fixing bugs we won't have time to do that at first.
Good idea about the Donation Meter. I can set it lower and run it through the rest of the year. Should it come back it could be for something special like a new server, upgrades, etc.
So many people donate a few bucks every month and don't get VIP in return. I'm concerned that there will be new comers that will donate $5, then learn about the VIP and wished they actually paid for that instead. I guess I could make it so only VIPs can see the donation meter but then that's kind of a slap in the face. Pay money to be a VIP so you can donate money.
I'm glad I brought this up as far in advance as possible so we could discuss this. Everyone has good ideas and comments. They are appreciated. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

I'd leave the meter up like you said, but change the text on the donate page to clearly explain the VIP concept to avoid situations like that JERIC.
