What music will you be playing this Christmas? I've started a little collection going here. Let me know what else you will be playing, either a movie score or something traditional, and I'll try to add an image.

Well, I prefer a Traditional Christmas music selection to fill the Holidays.

I originally heard Boots Randloph on a CD, Santa's Top 10. His version of "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" was so tasty, that I found the album that was from and ordered it, as no store in my area carried it. It was well worth the money. The album is Christmas At Boots Place.

This Johnny Mathis album that just keeps on giving . . .

This acoustic guitar collection by Rich Dixon is listenable --all-- the year long . . .

Here's a Top Ten List of some of my Favorite Christmas songs and carols:

#1. Carol of the Bells -- La Petite Bande de Montreal

#2. Sleigh Ride -- Johnny Mathis version

#3. Winter Wonderland -- Johnny Mathis version

#4. The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) -- Nat King Cole version

#5. Mary Did You Know -- Mark Lowry

#6. What Child Is This -- Charlotte Church

#7. O Come, O Come Emmanuel -- the Quire of Voices version

#8. Walking In The Air (from The Snowman) -- the Phil Coulter version

#9. It's beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas -- Johnny Mathis version

#10. Silver Bells -- Johnny Mathis version

Extra: My Favortie Christmas Intrumentals are:

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! -- Boots Randolph version

Nutcracker Suite

March of the Toys from Babes In Toyland

Parade of the Wooden Soldiers
Caliburn

I have a CD that I made (thanks to Itunes!) with the greats... Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Mel Torme, Linda Rondstadt, etc. I love all the classics!!

I must confess, I like listening to John Denver and the Muppets "Christmas Together." Some of those songs I listen to year round. I've thought of requesting that it be added to the playlist (it is a TV soundtrack, after all) but I know I would get pummeled. So I'll just enjoy it myself.

For my birthday, I just got the Mediaeval Baebes' holiday album, "Mistletoe and Wine." I don't like their other albums, but this one I like a lot. Mostly because I used to sing medieval carols in Concert Choir and the Madrigal Ensemble.

I gotta agree with J2 on the Manheim Steamroller Christmas albums, particularly the first one. I'm generally not a fan of their brand of music, but it just worked for me on that Christmas album, or maybe it's just because I grew up with it, like J2 said...

Here's what we have in our house now:

Some love Harry, some hate him. But you have to admit, his big band is tremendous.

I am with you on this one - only I was introduced to Mannheim Steamroller in high school Neutral - back when their music was on very expensive (for that time) vinyl. Very Happy

I love the video for Pat-a-pan as well. However, I cry every single time - great music video!!! I highly recommend seeing that one - it is a story and a quite sweet one for Christmas though very very sad.

Silent Night
We Three Kings
While Shepherds Watched

Songs:

Jingle Bells
Twelve Days of Christmas
We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Generally I listen to whatever my family is listening to because I am not all that picky. But, if I must listen to 'Christmas music' than I would also choose Manheim Steamroller or Trans Siberian Orchestra.

When talking about film scores, this year 'Blizzard' by Mark McKenzie was definitely played the most and one that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND....other than that I also listened to the Polar Express score which is a lot of fun!
