Jeric- I was wondering if you have ever considered selling the scores you have here in your Library. I'm aware you've provided a quick link to Amazon and other stores that sell soundtracks, but there are many I want to buy yet are unavailable at those stores. I'd think you can profit from this by adding a shopping cart to this site for us listeners so we can buy some of these scores that are foreign and rare.
just a thought,

Great idea... just one problem:
It's completely illegal, unless you have legally-binding agreements with record companies to sell their copyrighted material online. This is what companies like iTunes and the like have to do in order to sell music online, and there is no guarantee that one can obtain the rights to all the albums.
It's funny you mention this, though... I was just thinking about this problem, and ran across a company that sets up music downloading services for radio stations (physical stations, not internet radio... yet).
Basically, your radio station licenses their service for a fee, then they work on getting rights to the music, and they set up a custom music download store linked to your station website. For each track sold, a few cents on the dollar go to the radio station, a few go to the company, and the rest go to the record company owning the copyright.
Check out the Tune Genie.
Unfortunately, the interface is kind of annoying.
This or something similar, I think, would be worth looking into...

Luther-
I'm aware of the Licensing issue. I just figured seeing the rapid growth of this site would create a sense of urgency to take SST onto that next level, where Jeric would consider complete accesibility for us listeners to purchase Soundtracks via this site. _________________ ben

Ah, sorry I misunderstood.
Then, I agree it would be a great addition to the site, if a proper mechanism could be found for making it work.
Of course, if it can be done without going through a 3rd party, all the better!... |
