BitTorrent 101
BitTorrent is a file sharing protocol (wiki). This basically means that you download a file in several smaller chunks, and you share these chunks with the other downloaders. This evens the load.
To use a torrent-file you have to get a BitTorrent client application. For Windows I suggest using uTorrent and for Mac OSX Transmission.
After having installed either of these, download the torrent from the link I provided earlier and open it in the client application. This should then ask you where you would like to save the file. When that choice has been made it will start downloading.
That's all there is to it
DVD ISO How-To
When you've downloaded the DVD ISO file in my torrent you have two choices. You can either burn it to a DVD and put the disc in your regular DVD player, or you can mount the ISO as an extra drive on your computer using Daemon Tools (on Mac OSX you can just double-click the ISO and it will mount itself). You can now open the extra DVD drive using your favourite DVD player. _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,

Just watch the movie.
Very nice!
I like your choice of music.
I have been in NY before 911 and for me a bit strange to see NY without WTC. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

I made the mistake of trying to watch on my wifes Windows box, which froze and crashed. Then I tried it on my notebook with mplayer, but it doesn't seem to want to display the subtitles.

Of course!
Worker, PM me your snail-mail address and I'll send you the DVD.
In fact, anyone who was at the NYC gathering who isn't able to DL it, let me know and I'll be happy to burn a DVD for you. |

This is a regular PAL DVD, so if you only have an NTSC DVD player I suggest you watch it on your PC. |
While this is true, I was also able to watch it on my TV with full surround-sound using my little cheapo code-free/region-free DVD player. \0/
This is the greatest little player. I love it!!! And it cost only $29.
Nexxtech DVD Player (DP3222).
You can watch any DVD in either format (NTSC or PAL) from any region. For example: I have an Ennio Morricone concert DVD that is in PAL, but Region 0. But I also am able to watch the DVD of "72 Metra" (Morricone score btw) that is Region 5, and the DVD was purchased in Russia.
Once the player is set up, you never have to touch another button even when switching back-and-forth between formats. The manual that came with the player has virtually no information. In fact, I'm not sure it even came with a manual - lol. But there is a simple hack code to make it Region free. Piece of cake.
btw - I bought mine at Bi-Mart. Sam's Club might carry them still. Amazon & Buy.com used to have them. I'm sure there is a similar new model out there somewhere. |

just a quick note to everyone who was at morricone. i thought of you all this past weekend, b/c i unexpectedly ended up at that same times square hotel for drinks where the out-of-towners were staying that night. good memories of cutting limes with hotel key cards, searching a 20 block radius for the one shop who even HAD limes, getting stuffed in a box, kissing biceps, bad calculator math while drugged up on painkillers - but most of all, meeting everyone and hanging out and having a great time. will always be sorry i missed JW this year, but hats off to the nyc morricone crew! hope to see you all again soon! _________________ "I'm tired of trying to find happiness through lies and self-medicating. Wrab! .. so glad to see you finally escaped!
We miss you, too!
Wish you could have been in Hollywood with us. Hopefully there will be a reunion in NY, Florida, Chicago or some place you can make it to.
Thanks for reviving this ol' thread. Fond memories for sure. |
