Announcing Random Track Thursday! This Thursday, August 2nd, has been designated as Random Track Thursday. Instead of picking something yourself, let the roll of the dice, the throw of the darts, a shake of the magic 8-ball choose for you and hit that "Suggest Random Track" button.
There's just two Rules:
1) Only use the Suggest Random Track button.
2) You take the first track suggested. None of this clicking until something better comes up. Otherwise that defeats the purpose. Take the first suggestion.
3) Exception - if the track is over 5 minutes, feel free to hit the button again.
4) If the track is over 7 minutes, definitely hit that random button again. Otherwise public flogging may ensure. And I won't be held responsible for that.
Questions or comments? See TheDarkCloak - it was his idea, I'm just the messenger.

I'm in. Sounds like fun. And I'll be in the office with nothing to do but be random all day long. _________________ "I have *many* skills." -Xena |

While I agree that just hitting random until you get something you would like to request, any chance we can put a time limit on length of request?
For example, if I hit random once and it pops up an 11 minute song I think that is way too long and thus wouldn't feel comfortable selecting that track based on the aformentioned rules.
So, I say use the random button and select the first track suggested unless it is longer than 5 minutes (at five minutes I think this gives everyone a good opportunity to participate).
Let me know what you think! _________________ "My Logic is Undeniable" - I, Robot |

I like the idea and agree with Nate that we should skip the longer tracks (5 minutes or longer). _________________ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Flying: The knack of throwing yourself at the ground and miss.

Agreed Nate.
As long as people still play the game 'fairly' of course! _________________ Dust. Wind. Duuuude. |

May I offer a suggestion? Just don't request and let SAM do all the work. That's the most lazy efficient way to get the same result.

Can't the site simply turn off requests for the day? Seems like that would accomplish the same goal, and ensure "participation." |

I don't think so. That would really annoy the people who aren't willing to play, and there are bound to be some. _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

I think it would be a step too far.
As Alien said, not everyone is willing to participate (I'm sure, some folks will take full advantage of their right to request not randomly).
And I also think that it won't be participation anymore after turning requests off. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Not to mention, I saw that pesky SAM request a 16 minute track the other day. So I think we should stick with people playing the random game. _________________ "I have *many* skills." -Xena |
