For some reason, album cover art is not displaying in either the iGoogle or Google desktop gadgets. I thought maybe this had something to do with the addition of the full-size covers, but it doesn't seem like this should affect the Now Playing banner. Just thought you should know, Stefan!

I just updated the iGoogle gadget. So it should use the updated location of the cover images once the cache of iGoogle is renewed (which should be within a couple of hours).
I'm busy with an update to the Google Desktop gadget.
This includes a rewrite of the code so it is more manageble for me.
I try to get that update online before Monday. _________________ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Flying: The knack of throwing yourself at the ground and miss.

I have not been able to get the updated Google Desktop gadget to load (v1.3.2). It creates a blank space on the sidebar and says "loading..." That's it. I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling Google Desktop, and everything else I can think of. I never had trouble with previous versions.
Any ideas?

This is now fixed. Thanks again stefan!

The last several days, my iGoogle gadget has not been refreshing properly. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the server re-installation. The timer continues to count down, but the album cover and 'Now Playing' information fails to refresh. I'm running IE 8.0 (maybe that's my problem) on Windows XP.
I just thought I'd let you know about the issue, stefan, as well as assure you that I still use this great little gadget!

The issue with the iGoogle gadget is fixed.
However, it will take some time (couple of hours) before the cache from iGoogle expires and the new version is available.
The iGoogle gadget now uses the Developer API Soap Server.
An issue with the Vista Sidebar gadget is fixed too.

Yes, philk, I like this gadget a lot. Currently, though, it is (still) not displaying the cover art. I think stefan is waiting for some information from the SST admins so he can fix it.

Well an easy way would be to scrape the playing.php site It contains the cover art path, ratings, and affiliate amazon link.
I think once I have digged deeper into xmbc I will write a python addon for SST. |

Here a little word from me to add to Jeric's word of aprreciation towards Stefan.
First let me tell you that I'm a complete digibetic, but still it's good to see that people who do have knowledge on the subject are contributing together to this site which makes it a wonderful community. I sure can use this thread to serve as an example on how it can work to show to interested people.
Thank you all. _________________

Well, after a long run, Google will be retiring iGoogle.
Apparently, they find it a bit unnecessary with all the mobile apps and tools available in Android and Chrome.
I do appreciate the work Stefan and other developers have done and hope that SST tools will
continue to be available in future formats.

Yes, J2, my comment betrayed just how behind-the-times I am. I suppose I meant that I would still like to have a tool that will work like the iGoogle gadget does on whatever desktop-oriented format is most appropriate these days.

Meh.
I only own a dumbphone and I'm not likely to shell out €400 for a better phone anytime soon.
I hate phones of any kind.
Why are they taking away my beloved iGoogle??! _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."
