So which of these composers should win this year?
Luckily there's no Santaollala this time, so the chances of getting another big desaster are quite thin.
Out of these nominated film scores I've only seen/heard "Ratatouille" so far, but I'll surely take a look at Beltrami's "3:10 to Yuma".
My personal favourite: MARCO BELTRAMI
The reason: Though he was a bit unlucky in the last years to do more action features than other films, he has proven to be a more than
talented musician to find new or at least high level ways to write music for it.
Also he's a pupil of Morricone & Goldsmith...
And I've to admit, I'm already a fan of him.
So who do you think should win this time?
PS: You can also discuss the "Best Song" nominations here, though they personally don't really interest me a great deal
August Rush (2007): Nominees to be determined ("Raise It Up")
Enchanted (2007): Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz ("Happy Working Song")
Enchanted (2007): Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz ("So Close")
Enchanted (2007): Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz ("That's How You Know")
Once (2006): Glen Hansard, Markéta Irglová (“Falling Slowly” ) _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,
then it will because it is good - Jerry Goldsmith (1929-2004)

Hard to say.
The only two I took notice of are "Atonement" (quite nice) and "Ratatouille" (not to my taste).
Will have to listen to the other three in order to have an "informed" opinion. _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

Likewise... I'm going to have to listen to them more intently... _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me.

Thanks for the list bpe!
Like others, I'll have to hold off on voting until I've heard more of these.
To me, 2007 seemed like a pretty good year for films, but not a particularly great year for scores... no real stand-outs in my opinion. (Or at least, from what I've heard so far.)
I have high hopes for 2008 though!

For information, the three best scores nominated by cinezik (a french website about soundtracks) are:
1 ex - Ratatouille
1 ex - The bourne ultimatum
3 : PotC : At world's end

I've been searching on youtube and found a little featurette about Marco Beltrami's scoring for 3:10 to Yuma (which I saw in cinema today - great movie, great score)
Maybe there also are sources of the other nominated scores... _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

I thought at first over "Atonement" but I think "The Kite Runner" music is better.
I guess "Ratatouille" will win because it's music is most chatacteristic of all nominations but it's just not to my taste.

Here you can hear a very interesting interview with Marco Beltrami about his career, the music to "3:10 to Yuma" and his relationship to Jerry Goldsmith. _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

i have to say that Ratatouille is my preference in the list. I think it's unique and fun to listen to. _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me.
