My favorite Thomas Newman score is a tie between Road To Perdition and Angels In America. My favorite David Newman score is a tie between The Phantom and Galaxy Quest.

I'm also kind of a 'thomas newman-fan'.
Gr81, I've read in many reviews that his music for Angels in America is so beautiful, but here in Belgium, the soundtrack isn't available. Perhaps I'll order it bu amazon ...

My favourites are: American Beauty (Angela Undress and Any Other Name are stunningly beautiful), Road to Perdition (great main theme), Little Women and The Horse Whisperer (The Rythm of the Hourse, the Creek House)

Newman's one of my favorite composers. I do agree with the people who appreciated "Road to perdition" a lot. "Cathedral" is a monument of film music. But "The Shawshank Redemption" is great as well. His music wake very special feelings. I also like "Nemo Egg" (very similar to the R. of Perdition's track), "Finding Nemo" (Nemo) and "Whisper of a thrill" (meet J. Black).
He is defenitly one of the best.

Thomas Newman is definietly my favourite composer. He's number one and there's no one else far behind him Wink. The best soundtrack which makes me paralized for an hour, everytime I listen to it, is of course The Shawshank redemption. But every single melody created by Newman is marvellous!

BTW, someone mentioned Amelie - the composer is Yann Tiersen.

I loooove Thomas Newman. I requested Meet Joe Black to be added to the playlist Smile Newman is my favorite composer - Whisper of a Thrill from Meet Joe Black is my favorite track of all time. I love his music, it's kind of eery, yet relaxing and inspiring. Shawshank, American Beauty and Horse Whisperer are all great too. A new one of his I'm starting to enjoy thanks to this site is Fried Green Tomatoes.

Yeah, Lemony...
I've been at the Saturday afternoon showing, together with a bunch of nasty kids who laughed and cheered during "The Littlest Elf", that jolly stop-motion animation at the beginning - and got all quite when the actual film began (if they didn't scream in terror and ask stupid questions that is...)
At the end, everyone was rushing out, and I was the only one who stayed to watch (and especially listen to) the beautiful, beautiful end credits - until they turned on the lights, turned down the sound and started cleaning the seats after about 30 seconds or so!

I admire the complexity of Lemony Snicket, and I agree the end credits and a few other tracks are fantastic. It's a score that complements the film very well- liked his music for the railroad scene. Newman's expanding on themes he's used before but it's much richer sounding and more enjoyable.

My favorite Newman scores are Shawshank Redemption and Road to Perdition.
