FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE FILM MUSIC OF PHILLIP LAMBRO
TO BE RELEASED BY PERSEVERANCE RECORDS

CD CONTAINS TRACKS FROM MINERAL KING, FATHER PAT, CELEBRATION,
AND GIT!

(March 18, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) – Perseverance Records is pleased to announce the release of The Film Music of Phillip Lambro. The CD will be available at http://www.perseverancerecords.com on March 18th. The regular street date will be June 17th. The collection features music from four films: Mineral King, Celebration, Father Pat and Git!

Phillip Lambro was raised in Wellesley, MA. He began studying classical music in the Boston area, making his debut performing Chopin at Symphony Hall at seventeen. He continued his studies in California at the Music Academy of the West. Subsequently, Lambro became one of the youngest composers to be programmed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, who performed his “Dance Barbaro” (for percussion) and “Miraflores” (for string orchestra).

1964’s Git! was the first feature film composed by Phillip Lambro. Though the score was much better than the film, Git! has subsequently been listed in the 100 Worst Feature Films of all time. The film was a contemporary Western about a runaway boy, a renegade hound, and the daughter of a widowed dog breeder.

Mineral King earned Lambro a National Board of Review award for best music for a documentary film. The Walt Disney Company, together with the U.S. Forest Service, was attempting to open a ski resort in California’s Mineral King Valley. The 30-minute film, narrated by Burgess Meredith, examined the environmental impact if this was permitted.

Another documentary, Father Pat, told the story of Father Patrick Peyton (1909-1992), the founder of the Family Rosary Crusade, who coined the slogan “the family that prays together, stays together”. Lambro was able to record with a 60-piece orchestra to perform the score, which incorporates an original Irish sounding theme to reflect Father Pat’s background.

The fourth score featured on this recording is Celebration a look at the various forms of celebrations enjoyed in the USA. Narrated by Ben Gazzara, the film was a propaganda piece intended to be shown overseas. Because of the various cultures featured in Celebration, Lambro was able to expand into a variety of musical styles to reflect the different types of celebrations in this country.

The Film Music of Phillip Lambro will be released exclusively at http://www.perseverancerecords.com on March 18th, 2008 and in-stores on June 17th. Two other soundtracks composed by Phillip Lambro, Murph the Surf and Crypt of the Living Dead, are also available on Perseverance Records. Lambro’s autobiographical memoir Close Encounters of the Worst Kind was released in 2007.
