Pixar's Wall-E, due out in June 2008, is destined to be a humongous hit, so I thought it deserved to have its own thread. (Sorry for the oversight, Ratatouille )
Here is the official trailer:
YouTube has tons of Wall-E videos! This is an interesting one with exec. producer Andrew Stanton describing how it all got started.

That looks great!!!! They really tried to make this movie look realistic (in the terrain anyway ) I'm looking forward to it! _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me.

I've been waiting to see that one. He's so adorable, and Pixar never disappoints _________________ When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.

Cannot wait for this film. Our three year old has just got into Pixar films (through Cars!) so it has given us the excuse to catch up on all of Pixar's back catalogue. Wall-E might even be the first film I've seen in the cinema in - blimey - YEARS!
I read somewhere that Wall-E would flop because the robot wasn't a very loveable character but the children in my class at school were mad for the trailer so I think it'll be another huge hit. Probably rightly so.
This is my favourite Wall-E trailer so far. My son laughed out loud when the hoover tube got stuck to Wall-E's face!

The facial expressions are so amazing!

The animation is something else, isn't it? And it's the sheer scale of ideas they always seem to come up with: the little nuances like the way Wall-E's head stays stationary while his body moves around, how he transforms into a cube, the way the hoover tube and wire move when Wall-E is playing with it. Amazing!

*Snicker* Not a lovable character? How can you NOT love this guy? Then again, movie critics can be a little strange sometimes.
And I remember when the Disney execs were convinved Nemo would be a flop because it had fish as characters...yeah, see how that turned out _________________ When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.
I’m sure a lot of us at SST are excited that Thomas Newman is doing the score for Wall-E.
Newman’s Myspace Music page has a link to yet another Wall-E trailer on YouTube.
btw - His blog (click on photo) has music samples from his other films continually playing so you may want to pause the player before clicking on the trailer link.
Peter Gabriel is also doing music for the film.
.
“The legendary singer/songwriter announced on his website that he is writing a song, and contributing to the soundtrack, for the upcoming Disney/Pixar film. He will be assisting Thomas Newman, the award-winning soundtrack composer for such films as Finding Nemo and American Beauty.”
I have to admit I’m a teensy-weensy bit annoyed at how publicity regarding Gabriel’s involvement in this film seems to be overshadowing Newman. If a person didn’t know any better, he might assume Gabriel was the primary composer.
(To see what I mean, try googling “Thomas Newman Wall-E Peter Gabriel”.)
But to be fair, that’s not Gabriel’s fault – he’s simply more active on the internet.
If you do click on Peter Gabriel's January video blog (linked in his photo), you’ll have to sit thru his talking about a lot of other “stuff” before he gets to the small bit about Wall-E.
That said, they are both phenomenally popular composers so the score and songs are bound to be awesome! I can’t wait till the CD is released and added to our playlist.

Watched this a few times now and I love the music about two thirds of the way in when the rocket launches back off the Earth with Wall*E in tow and then docks with the big ship called Axiom. Anyone know where this piece of music is from?
