|
We have recently implemented an improvement for VIP requests which allows VIPs to request as often as they normally should and not have to "share" their requests with other users on their network.
This is useful for households that have multiple VIP accounts and for people in work areas that have multiple non-VIPs requesting. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

When a non-vip member tries to request a song but a colleage (the lord of nuts and rats) has requested a song recently I can't request a song. On the other hand when I request a song my colleage can request a song... |

The featrure of multiple request from the same network applies only for VIPs at the moment (look at JERIC's first post in this thread). _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

In the JERIC's post it is said that "This is useful for households that have multiple VIP accounts and for people in work areas that have multiple non-VIPs requesting."
So when there is 1 VIP in a work area all NON-VIP users can not request, when the VIP has requested recently? _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

From what I read from what JERIC has said, the way things are done now, it shouldn't matter whether there are other VIP's or any other users for that matter on the same network as you, each user has their request frequency/time etc. assessed individually.
Basically before the change it sounds like requests were checked against IP addresses, which can be shared between people who come from the same home router/work proxy etc. due to a feature known as Network Address Translation/NAT.
I'd suspect now the checks are made against data in cookies i.e. userid which means that each user can be assessed individually. |

Still we noticed that when I as VIP requested a track, PPZT had to wait 2 hours after my request (It was his first requested that day)
When he requested a track, I could request another track and did not have to wait for 5 minutes.
If it is a cookie thing, maybe he has a different setting of his cookies, that is possible. We can look into that.
So maybe some of the developers can send me an email how it is checked. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

From what I've read from the subject line it is only for VIP users. If this is implemented in this way, it would be nice if it at least explained why it didn't allow the request. |

It looks to be for VIP people in work areas that have multiple non-VIPs requesting and I suppose it's been implemented to be one of these things that should convince more people to become a VIP.
I think non-VIP can't request after anybody's request from the same network (even if it would be first request after long time for non-VIP) because for non-VIP any request from the same network is still counted by system as their own request (it hasn't been changed for non-VIPs after implementing the feature we are talking about).
At least this is how I understand the idea of this feature. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

The simplest way I can put it is VIPs are not affected by other requests in the same network whereas non-VIPs are. I can't tell you how the system checks this as that could lead to people trying to circumvent it. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained?
