Vocals are not my prime reason for my love of soundtracks (as evidenced by my collection). However there are some vocals which I really do enjoy either on their own merit or, more often, for their connection to a part of the film.

I know there are some favorites out there (and maybe a special reason you like it). So here's a place to mention if any vocals stand out for you.

I know many vocals appear in the "Man, I HATE this track!" discussion.
I wonder how many of them will show up here as well? Smile

I'll start:

Arrow "Try Not to Remember" from Home of the Brave. Not much of a film, but nice work from Sheryl Crow.

Well, if you're talking songs from movies then I'd also go for a Sheryl Crow track too as well as a couple of lovable Bond tunes:

Arrow "Real Gone" from Cars by Sheryl Crow
Arrow "Living Daylights" from the same film by A-ha
Arrow "View To A Kill" again from the film of the same name by Duran Duran
Oh and I think "Suo Gan" from Empire Of The Sun is gorgeous too.

If you mean vocal accompaniment then I love the choral sections from Goldsmith's The Omen films, William's Harry Potter movies some nifty vocal sounds in George Fenton's Planet Earth and Horner's Glory.

These are the ones that spring to mind - I'm sure there areloads of others.

The first soundtrack I ever bought for myself was The Lost Boys, back when cassettes were still big... and I was working in theatre in high school. Given that we all kept theatre hours and wore a lot of black, 'Cry Little Sister' was destined for a lot of replay. Wink Fortunately, I still like it. A lot.

The first soundtrack I ever bought on CD was Patriot Games, and Clannad's 'Theme from Harry's Game' remains one of the standout tracks on the album for me. The score supports the movie superbly, but sadly most of it doesn't do much for me as a stand alone listening experience.

Others that spring to mind are the opening credits to both BSG and Heroes, 'Omiya' from The Kama Sutra, 'The Feeling Begins' from Passion, and pretty much everything from any of the Muppet movies.

Not what I was thinking - but there are quite a few worthy ones out there.

I still have that CD. I used to listen to it when I needed to get energized.

I love the version of Sweet Child 'O Mine that Sheryl Crowe does and it's in the movie Big Daddy. Not sure if it's actually on the soundtrack or not, because it's not on SST.

I am a lover of Musicals in general. Oklahoma, West Side Story, all of the Disney movies.

Thanks for this thread Genpoint. Great idea to accentuate the positive. Wink

I've got to check on a few of Irulan's tracks.

"Miss Celies Blues" from The Color Purple can bring me right back to the film.

Do they count if they are theme tunes? Because I also really like the opening credits to Enterprise. At first I though: nah! But it really grew on me. Funny, because a lot of the time I enjoy songs in scores when I become familiar with them.

Also, only just realised it was here! Shouldn't be surprised really! I'll have to request that next time I'm listening!

I'll probably think of others later, but mellowman's post reminded me that I like the Firefly theme. Which is kind of funny, because I don't like the show. But I sing the theme song every time I vacuum (my canister vac's name is Serenity) and I turn the volume up when it come up on the queue.
