|
Ok. I went to a wedding last weekend. It's been a while since I've been to a wedding... but I realized something that annoys me at most weddings. The music! I just can't stand the typical "here comes the bride" and 99% of the songs that are played at the ceremony are cheesy (especially vocals). Not to mention that they are pretty much always the same "playlist," if you will.
Since I have a deep need to always be original, I always figured the day I get married I would love to play scores from different movies. Preferably nothing obvious or easily recognizable, althought that could be hilarious. Anyway, I'm sure it's been done before, and probably by some folks around here...
I just thought it was a good discussion topic. So what do you think? And post some ideas if you like...
Ex: I always thought "... And Then I Kissed Him" or "Tennessee" from the Pearl Harbor ST would make for a lovely entrance song... |

Interesting topic ArchitRen. I agree, we didn't want traditional music at our wedding either. We didn't choose any soundtracks, however (my wife has discovered the joys, I'm afraid!) but we chose some music by a British band called Blur - one of which was an instrumental version of a song we love by them.
I think score music would work brilliantly, particularly if you could take an excerpt and use the salient moments. Tracks that spring to mind would be "My True Love's Eyes" from Legend or "Fairy Dance" from Peter Pan or the lovely "Good Night" from Time Machine. I'm sure I could think of more. I guess anything could go depending on how radical you wanted to be! |

I agree that many weddings show a lack of originality, especially when it comes to music. Though keep in mind, for church weddings anyway, the list of music the church will permit for the ceremony is probably short.
"The Arrival of Lady Jessica" from Children of Dune would make a lovely processional. One of my favorite tracks, and not just because that's my name. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

The Lord of the Rings: The Passing Of The Elves would be a great track for an outdoors wedding when the bride is approaching the altar. You are welcome ArchitRen!
I also had problems with finding that old thread. You just have to be aware that our forums search engine is not always perfect. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

I used the chabadabada theme from "A man and a woman" by Francis Lai and "The windmills of your mind" from Michel Legrand. The french version, of course.
In fact, my wife sung the song with me on the piano _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

I agree with you ArchitRen, i don't want 'typical' music on my wedding too.
As I see me dancing as a bride I always hear "Come what may" from Moulin Rouge |
