Today I saw in a forum and on other days in the chatroom the question of what song is used in a particulary Station ID.

Is it possible that a track list of which song(s) are used for the Station ID

Hi Sirius,

I think I've noticed that currently the "Now Playing" section does show the name of the person speaking in the station ID and also the artist whose music is playing in the background... I'm not exactly sure if it's the artist name or the album name.. but some info on the music anyway... I think it's the artist's name.

It disappears very quickly so it's not easy to catch.

It's the artist's name. Just heard the ID/infomercial and checked. So, actually it doesn't really help much in identifying the track if there are lots of albums from that particular artist...

Yes, I noticed that too, but not all the ID's have the artist name. And you are right about the track. Smile

I moved this to "General" since it's about the station, from "Requests" since it's not a request.

If it doesn't have an artist name then it is public domain/royalty free/generic stuff. I don't know what the station imager used in these cases.

It is possible to have a list of StationID and tracks used for them. Why would anyone want to know this?

You must be new here. Wink

Folks often ask in the chat about a particular background track. A list would be handy.

Personally, I think it would be neat to put mp3s of the various StationIDs somewhere on the site. Clearly, people are more interested in them than one would think.

We could even make them requestable, although the listen-only types might not appreciate the increase in advertising.

Well, j2, if they were requestable, maybe they wouldn't be requestable like regular tracks, but rather if someone did request one, it would simply be the next one played in the queue. Or something like that.

No, we don't need extra advertising. I am quite satisfied with the current level, as are many people, I'm sure.

Yes Lady I agree. The advertisements are just about right IMHO as well.

I'm not sure if I would like to see Station's ID Tracks requestable but I think it would be nice to have list of these tracks formed in typical shape of an album in SST's library.

Advantages of having ID Tracks Album for me:

- Tracks would be better exposed to SSTers who are interested in knowing them better.
- Each track could be described on Album Info page including name of composer and title of the music used in it.
- We could have Album "cover" for ID Tracks ( I think it could be just SST logo)

Thanks to having Album Cover for ID Tracks it would be possible to fix a little problem (bug?) that for me doesn't fit an outstanding layout of this website.
I mean, currently when ID Track plays we don't have any album cover visible in the upper right corner of the page. We have a picture looking like an error while loading the graphic file, instead.
It would be nice to replace that error view with something looking better.

Just my two eurocents Wink

PS: I hope this idea is not breaking any rules SAM follows during its work...
