Hey, wlz, what did you think of the last track on the second CD? (BTW, belated thanks for the belated birthday wishes.)
Everyone who doesn't have the CD, I kinda wish you could hear it. It's the late Shirley Walker explaining her Batman theme, playing various versions of it on the piano. She even demonstrates how it can be dovetailed with Elfman's theme.
I don't know why this little interview was recorded, but it's wonderful. And since it is my favorite theme for my favorite Batman, well, it just makes me squee afresh. |
I totally agree. The cd without that track is incredible in it's own right but that just makes it (here it comes...) EPIC!!!!
I am so very happy I bought this. I love the background and the thoughts Shirly has. It adds such an intimate look into her composition.
Thanks again Lady for bringing this CD to my attention! Incredible. _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me. |

I just came here to post about this after seeing it on Aint It Cool, but Lady Inque beat me to it by a month. I hope SST ordered their copy, since this is apparently a 3000 copy limited edition. At ~$30 shipped, better to get it now, rather than having to hunt it down on eBay later. |

Has SST ordered a copy, or shall I break down and add a poll? |
No need for a poll, word is that the CD is on order for inclusion in the playlist in the near future |

And it is now sold out. Whew! |
That bodes well for future releases of the music, although there has already been extensive discussions on what should be included on the next volume. I don't have any connection to the music really since I have never seen the series, but overall I have been very impressed with the music and have been enjoying it a lot recently. It is a bit of a choppy listen, but there are so many great tracks and the Gotham suite is a nice summation of the music. |
