Internet radio has and never will influence me to buy a CD. In fact i'll never buy a cd again. Here is why.
When and if i did buy a cd soon as i got it i'd throw it on my HD and then throw that stupid piece of plastic in the trash. Until the record industry gives us another means of buying music i'll never buy a cd. Don't they realize that we would rather pay 50 cents a song and burn it ourselves on our cd worth 1 penney? Some people argue that well u can't listen to it in your car w/o the cd..well i dont listen to cd's in the car i have XM radio.

They were talking to clint black on techtv the other day and he confirmed what i've been trying to explain to everyone. He said " We make very little off music cd's, most of our money comes on the road." Music cd's should be free to get people to go to live concerts.

Ddave matthews band made 5 million bucks in 1998 off his cd..and 38 million off his live shows.

That's pretty interesting, crimson. $5 million is still a lot of money. Another thing to consider is how many people wouldn't have seen a concert if they hadn't owned the CD. I know I'm not shelling out $50 to see a band that I don't have have the CD of. I wish we all could have the opportunity to see Hans, Basil or Elfman live! BTW, I love walking into my house and seeing a huge wall of liquid assets (jewel cases). While I understand your gripe on the music industry not keeping up with technology. In fact, most people can't even keep up with technology. I just hope it's not used as an 'excuse' to not compensate the artists. I think that is a great idea to appoint a group that is technically informed to oversee technolgy/copyright progression.

I'm curious, if a specific band sold their CD for $1 to everyone around the world, then had a concert. I'm willing to bet that they would be hot because everyone would have their CD. Thus hitting a larger audience.

Where does the rest of the money go if the band doesn't get the money from the CD? The record company? What's the record company doing with all the money? o_O
