My Top 5:
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
First Contact
The Undiscovered Country
The Wrath of Khan
The Final Frontier / Insurrection
So therefore I voted for Motion Picture. _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

Jerry! Jerry!! Jerry!!!
It just doesn't get better than this.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture by a mile!!!
"Ilia's Theme"
"Main Title"
"Klingon Battle"
"The Meld"
Oh heck ... all 18 tracks.
Goldsmith set the bar so high. The rest do a phenomenal job. Their scores match the films. Wonderful. BIG when they need to be... quiet (or silent) when they need to be.
But Jerry Goldsmith is the Master. He is the one that gives us all goosebumps.. lean forward in our seats .. and makes us wipe our eyes with emotion. |

wrath of khaan for me. that battleship style stand off suspense music horner managed to pull off is timeless.
first contact would follow up as the next best soundtrack. _________________ “Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.” |

Once again I seem to be voting against the trends. It's a tough call between the first three for me: Goldsmith's original was amazing, and Horner's extension of his original work and the addition of the nautical themes are gorgeous.
This time around I've voted for The Search for Spock because it's so wonderfully understated and evocative a lot of the time. |

Heh I voted for Star Trek because I just don't hear the appeal behind the others and I think Giacchino did a GREAT job revamping the Star Trek sound for us new fans. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |

Wrath of Khan, though that just a hair ahead of Motion Picture in my book.
I don't think anyone captured the spirit of Star Trek the way Goldsmith did, but James Horner's score stands above the rest. |

That was a hard decision -
I voted for "the motion picture" , but "First Contact" is equally great,
because Jerry Goldsmith's music is so phantastic! _________________ It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
