I love this site and its streaming. I have been an avid listener for many years. Until the recent changes I was using the ogg stream with foobar2000 at work and rhythmbox (ubuntu) at home. They used to decode the meta data (artist, album, track title, track number, length). Now with the aacplus stream it decodes the artist but everything else is in the title except for the track number. Is this how it is supposed to be or am I missing something.

This is no big deal just wondering.

Thanks for the good music

I too use Rythmbox on Ubuntu and never had a problem with the meta data displaying correctly, until I upgraded Ubuntu to 9.10. Now it only refreshes in the the title bar.

I think this may be a bug with the player. You may be able to find your bug or submit it here:

This is not just rhythmbox, it is foobar too. It is not displaying incorrectly, it just does not separate everything to its category. Everything is in the title except the artist including the time. I find that pretty strange.

Hi redtwo,

did you find a way to get the track number from the meta data?
Or is it just missing completely in the aacplus stream?
Neither with Winamp nor with VLC the track number is displayed. Only the track length is given in the title as you have already noted.

As far as I found out, parsing the meta data for the track number only yields consecutive numbers starting with 1 for the first track played, 2 for the second one and so on.
So, unfortunately this is not the correct entry. Any idea to solve this issue?

Greets,

beamer

No. foobar parses artist name but the track title, album, and time are all contained in the "title" line. In fact, when the artist has more than two names (e.g. Harry Gregson Williams), the Williams is placed with the rest of the information. I assumed that the meta data was either not coming into foobar correctly or there was a bug with foobar. I can not find any information in the few internet searches I did. And yes, track number is still not there. Sorry, I have no clue how to fix but it only slightly annoying.
