|
I recently showed my niece who is 15 'The Last Starfighter', which she loved. We got talking about movies she has and hasn't seen - and boy, do the ones she hasn't seen outnumber the ones she has.
What must watch movies would you suggest I add to her list? |

Back to the Future (1,2 and 3)
Jaws (1... I am really going to only recommend 1 for this series)
Goonies
The Sandlot
Indiana Jones (1,2,3 and 4)
Star Wars (1,2,3,4,5 and 6)
Blade Runner (at 15 this would be fine for her)
The NeverEnding Story
Old Yeller (*tear*)
The Wizard of Oz
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (With Gene Wilder)
Mary Poppins
Tron (sequal coming soon)
The older Star Trek films are also good
I am sure there are HUNDREDS more - but that is a good start.
Also the book: The Best Old Movies for Families is a great read chocked full of ideas. |

The Sandlot |
I've never heard of this movie. Just added it to my Netflix queue.
Is it one adults would enjoy or is it aimed just at teens? |

Two - it's just a great movie. Especially if you've ever watched or played a pickup baseball game as a kid. It was on cable recently and I watched a bit of it, it's really a great movie. From an adult stand point, it's a reminiscent kind of movie, when life was simpler, all you needed was a few friends, a ball, a bat, and.... a sandlot. |

Is that a movie, or just a point of information?
Checking imdb...
Oh, it's a movie. I don't know that it's appropriate for a 15-year-old, though. |
Yeah, guess you're right. I missed that point. |

October Sky
Stand and Deliver
West Side Story
Vertigo
North by Northwest
All the President's Men
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Joy Luck Club
Children of Heaven
Color of Paradise
Ben-Hur
Glory
Black Stallion
Princess Bride
Billy Elliott
An American in Paris
Stand by Me
Casablanca
The Namesake
Pride and Prejudice (with Keira Knightly)
A Raisin in the Sun (TV version with Phylicia Rashad is decent if you can't find the film with Sidney Poitier)
Bend it like Beckham
I have a lot more ideas but they are probably not age-appropriate. |
