Soundtrack Features Original Music by John Powell
(October 26, 2010- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the Fair Game -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack available digitally and in stores on November 2, 2010. John Powell (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Shrek) who has composed the music for numerous Doug Liman-directed films including The Bourne Identity, and Jumper, re-teams with the director.
British-born composer John Powell’s list of film credits exemplifies his ability to transcend genre. Arriving in the States in 1997, he immediately scored two DreamWorks TV projects. It was Powell's hair-raising score for John Woo’s Nicolas Cage/John Travolta blockbuster Face/Off that garnered critical acclaim. He composed one hour and forty-five minutes of riveting music, which utilized unresolved harmonies, tragic melodies and thundering percussion to build a heightened state of tension.
He has since scored a wide variety of films in different genres, including animated hits Antz, Chicken Run, Robots, Shrek, Ice Age: The Meltdown, and Happy Feet, in addition to the actioners Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Italian Job, The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. His interest in musical diversity continued in the creation of scores for Drumline, I am Sam, and Alfie, with Dave Stewart and Mick Jagger. He also scored the superhero blockbuster X-Men: The Last Stand and United 93, the three films in the Jason Bourne series (The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum), Stop Loss, P.S. I Love You, Jumper, Kung Fu Panda, Horton Hears a Who, Ice Age: Dawn of The Dinosaurs Bolt, Hancock, How To Train Your Dragons and Greenzone.
A suspense-filled glimpse into the dark corridors of political power, Fair Game is a riveting action-thriller based on the autobiography of real-life undercover CIA operative Valerie Plume (Naomi Watts), whose career was destroyed and marriage strained to its limits when her covert identity was illegally exposed.
As a cover officer in the CIA’s Counter-Proliferation Division, Valerie leads an investigation into the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Valerie’s husband, diploma Joe Wilson (Sean Penn), is drawn into the investigation to substantiate an alleged sale of enriched uranium from Niger. But when the administration ignores his findings and uses the issue to support the call to war, Joe writes a New York Times editorial outlining his conclusions and ignites a firestorm of controversy.
"Collaborating with Doug Liman is always a surprising storytelling experience,” said Powell. “Doug is very visceral. He creates with such intensity that one must interpret his cinematic desires while holding on to the seat of the pants. I was inspired by this film. This is a real hero's story."
Dimension Films presents Fair Game in select theaters on November 5, 2010. Fair Game – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be released digitally and in stores on November 2, 2010.
