Soundtrack Features Original Music by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe With Songs By Elvis Presley, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Gilbert O’Sullivan, and Minnie Riperton
(October 21, 2010- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the MEGAMIND -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack available digitally and in stores on November 2, 2010. Hans Zimmer (Inception, Sherlock Holmes) and Lorne Balfe (Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare video game) composed the original music.
Zimmer is one of the film industry’s most respected and sought-after composers with a career that encompasses more than 100 film and television scores. An Academy Award® winner for his score for The Lion King, Zimmer has also received seven additional Oscar® nominations for his work on Sherlock Holmes, Gladiator, The Thin Red Line, Rain Man, As Good as It Gets, The Preacher’s Wife and The Prince of Egypt. Among his many honors, Zimmer has also won two Golden Globes and three Grammy Awards.
Zimmer’s career has been marked by a unique ability to adeptly move between genres – between smaller films and comedies (such as Driving Miss Daisy, Peter Weir’s Green Card, Tony Scott’s True Romance, Ridley Scott’s Thelma and Louise, James L. Brooks’ As Good As It Gets, Nancy Meyers’ Something’s Gotta Give, and The Holiday) and big blockbusters (including Tony Scott’s Crimson Tide, John Woo’s Mission: Impossible 2, Ridley Scott’s Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, Edward Zwick’s The Last Samurai, Gore Verbinski’s The Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, and Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code).
Lorne Balfe was a nominee for a World Soundtrack Discovery Award in 2009 for Crying With Laughter. He has worked with Zimmer contributing additional music for films including Sherlock Holmes, Angels & Demons, The Dark Knight and The Simpsons Movie. Balfe is a Grammy Award®-winner for producing the soundtrack for The Dark Knight.
Megamind (voice of Will Ferrell) is the most brilliant super-villain the world has ever known…and the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as “Metro Man” (voice of Brad Pitt), until the day that Megamind actually defeats him in the throes of one of his botched evil plans. Suddenly, the fate of Metro City is threatened when a new villain arrives and chaos runs rampant, leading everyone to wonder: Can the world’s biggest ‘mind’ actually be the one to save the day. The film also features the voices of Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, and David Cross.
DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures present MEGAMIND in theaters on November 5, 2010. MEGAMIND – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be released digitally and in stores on November 2, 2010.
