Hello SST, I do not come here because I am mostly on adagio. But I do love movie soundtracks.

Anyway my question..... (sorry if this is not the correct place for this but I figured you guys would know)

Is there a website that can tell me by year what was the most popular/sold soundtrack in particular between the movies that came out that year?

Let me know if that does not make any sense.

Thank you for your time

Sincerely

Hi 777rak,

This is a tough one, because film scores do not typically sell enough copies to be noticed by the usual entities who keep track of such things, like the Billboard charts. Only those albums who make the top 200 or so in sales (tallied week-by-week) will make the Billboard charts, so only the very most popular soundtracks will be found on that list.

You might have some luck searching Allmusic.com, but its search features are not particularly conducive to answering your question.

Others here might have some better information, but that's the best I can do.

Mr. Green

Well we have our own popularity lists on SST. So look on Top 100 pages to see the popular albums / tracks voted by the SST community. You can find an option to view the top 100 of albums by year:

Thanks, Sirius! I didn't know SST had that functionality, and I love the Top 100 page.
