I've thought about getting one off and on over the years. And I know what I would get too... I've always thought about getting one with a wolf howling at the moon (those who know me, yeah, that shouldn't be much of a surprise).
Something like this:
Or one with a wolf standing on a outcrop howling at the moon (couldn't find a decent pic of what I'm picturing in my head)
So, for those who have considered one (or actually gotten one), what would you get? |

I never seriously considered taking a tattoo.
If I did though, it would probably be like this:
In the form of a ring around the middle finger. I couldn't find a picture in the form of a ring (I hate the new google-images searching). Guess it would require more accuracy in tattooing than currently is possible. _________________ Music is not just made of sounds. It is also made of silence. |

I have several, none of which are suitable for SST forums. LOL, just kidding, they are suitable, but I'm not sharing.
Content is probably not suitable for most, but if you want to see some crazy ones, check out the Death.fm forum: http://death.fm/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1298&highlight=tattoo

I'm still not sure if I will ever get one, although the desire exists.
First I wanted some bracelet around my wrist. Barbed wire or thorns, something like that. Now I feel intrigued by this one:
Of course, I'd get it on my left hand, I use to hold my cigarette with it _________________ diginferno

Oh I don't know about that... I've seen tats that go around fingers... I've seen one that when the hands were side by side, made it look like a snake that was weaving itself over/under the fingers. |

After reading Kushiel's Dart, by Jacqueline Carey[1], I was inspired for a while to get a back tattoo to celebrate finishing my PhD. It would be a small one of Nephthys (dissertation subject) in her serpent form. I did some preliminary research, but never got close to the ink.
[1] In this fantasy novel, temple prostitutes who have completed their indentured servitude get huge, complicated back tattoos. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Leave it to a PhD to have footnotes in a forum post. Habits are hard to break, I guess.

Ooh, I have 2 and I want more! I designed both of mine; one is a treble clef with music notes around it and the Korean characters for "music" underneath
(Wanted to get a viola clef, but figured it would be too tiring to keep explaining what it was )
Here's my other one (I hope this works):

Oh Viola! Can I see the other one? I'm really curious about the clef!
I'll probably get my tattoo this fall. I didn't decide on a motif yet. Probably something Biomech, a Dragon or an anagram... |

I already have a tattoo (a Star Wars one... it's probably somewhere in these forums already ), but if I was to get another one it would probably be something science related... like my DNA as a band around my wrist, a grounding symbol on my ancle or a Darwin tree. _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,

Even the thought of getting a tattoo makes me shiver and cry and curl up and die inside.
But never mind my personal phobias... my main problem with tattoos is that they last frigging FOREVER.
Any of you ever see 70-year-old guys with tattoos?!
