Looking here, again:

I frequently dine here, when I am in town
and especially while I am at The Marquiss.
They have an upstairs. Cool place, really
and the price is decent. For relative value
and fun, it might be right. I just wish we
did not have to cab it but maybe if it is
early enough, it will not be the real issue.
What do you think?

I think it will be real nice & the menu
looks good. Its probably
much larger than the Candle Cafe was
so that's a plus. (imho)
I vote yes! _________________ "I like what I hear as a resulting combination of these two strands... something of a combination of familiarity and, for lack of a better word, strangeness." -Alex North |

Much bigger. If we get there, earlier, we
can take over the upstairs. I will see, if
more people express interest.

Guess we'll decide, there. Again,
I will take care of the Hendricks,
vermouth, lemon/lime. I will see
about frozen berries but I can
make no promises.
Again, if you have a special need,
bring it with you. I will mix. I will
try and find cups, too.
See you, there!

Sorry to reply so late, but I think that the Cuban place Pete (who is now Cuban Pete, the king of the rhumba beat) suggested sounds good, if he likes it and the value is good. The close location to the Marquis doesn't hurt my feelings none.
Did we ever decide on a time for dinner Saturday night? _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Sounds good, LadyI.
It's reasonable, when you
consider the city.
I am also bringing a bottle
of curacao to color your
martinis blue, if you like.
On dinner, my suggestion
is always early and this, so
we can enjoy each other
for longer.
Please chime in and let's
talk schedule.
I am open to have cocktails
at my suite before dinner.
If I see cachaca available,
I will offer caipirinhas, too.
I just have to get my hands
on limes, which we will need
a number of, in that case.

The cuban restaurant sounds good to us as well. Any time is ok, we have not planned anything on saterdsy evening after dinner, so if someone had planned to go to a musical (we will not) just say it, so the time can be scheduled for that. _________________ That's the beauty of music. I hadn't intended to be quite so silent through this, but last week was very -ugh-.
The Cuban restaurant sounds great, and I look forward to seeing people there. If people go to a musical, I'm game for that, but if not I'm fine with dinner and cocktails (I can bring contributions to cocktails and/or snacks) and just meeting interesting people.
Has there been any solidification on the times for when people are meeting? I'm driving in from about an hour away, so I can get to the city pretty much any time in the afternoon. |

I'm going to give into my inner bossy and say that we're meeting at 5:30pm at the restaurant. That should leave a comfortable margin around most theater schedules, while being something on the early side, which may help with logistics.
Should we make a reservation? How big a party are we expecting? I count 7:
Me.

Okay, update. I went to the website, and for a party of seven, the only availability they're giving me is 3:15 and 8pm. Pete, do you know any more about this?
We're trying to get seats at a restaurant in Times Square on a Saturday night. I can't say I'm surprised. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Sorry I've been so quiet in the forum as well. I'm supposed to get email updates when the thread was updated but apparently technology would rather tell me to suck it.
I am open for anything. I agree with Pete on meeting earlier so we can spend more time with each other
Whatever we're doing on Saturday, I just need some time before dinner to check in. I'm staying with my uncle tomorrow and Friday night, so I'll have to run back to his place (just 3 miles from Carnegie Hall/Wellington Hotel) to get my bag and then check in.
Also, I didn't read some of the other entries before starting this, so I'm sorry if it's already been addressed, but do people have plans for Sunday? _________________ The journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step. |

I am here, at the hotel (Wednesday
night). On those times, I think it best
to take the earlier time. Again, the
earlier, the more time to own the
place. hehe

But the earlier time conflicts with those looking at matinees. I don't even know if it's still available.
Dutch, do you want to chime in here? Seeing as how I think you were supposed to be in charge of this shindig. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Yeah, I agree with PeteC
Say 02.00 pm at the Wellington or 3.15pm at the havana?
didn't hear from Cyberbrain anymore.
PM sent but not yet read. _________________

So we're doing lunch instead of dinner? So much for catching a matinee.
Would someone in charge just make the bloody reservation already? This should have been done weeks ago, so that we could actually plan around it, not just muck around on the message board. We're trying to get together in New York, not at the Breadstix in Lima.
I'm sorry, but this trip is a big deal for me, and for others too, I'm sure, and I'm really annoyed that no one seems to know what's going on. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

When does your matinee get
out, LadyI? Perhaps, I can
have everyone, here, with me,
for drinks etc.
I understand about having the
plans set and everything. It
often happens, with a larger
group, that things thorn up.
I will take a stroll to the Havana
and see about those reservation
options in person and glass in
hand. Might make a difference.
