Is it really a good idea for us to go as a group? I mean what if someone grabs the CD I want before me? I can't be held responsible for head butting peeps in public

I know how that feels Z.
Last time I went there with Sirius, we started each on opposite sites of the
counters. Turned out that Sirius had the best deals.
VL: I booked my planeticket today and I will be flying back on tuesday instead of monday, that leaves some room for Amoeba if Sunday is difficult.
On the other hand I switched to Tuesday to be able to have an appointment at Milan Records but let's just see what happens.

I have no way to get around, no way to get to the Meet n Greet, or anything else. Please, I will have to coordinate with someone once I get there on Friday.
I need rides from the airport to the hotel, and back to the airport on Monday. My arrival itinerary as of today is:
American Airlines Flight Number: AA4265
From: (SGF) Springfield MO, USA
Depart: 11:45 AM
To: (ORD) Chicago O'Hare IL, USA
Arrive: 1:15 PM
THEN
American Airlines Flight Number: AA0327
From: (ORD) Chicago O'Hare IL, USA
Depart: 2:10 PM
To: (LAX) Los Angeles CA, USA
Arrive: 4:30 PM
I had to go through Chicago to arrive at that time, otherwise it would have been extremely late at night.
Going back, I'm leaving at 12:45. AA has not given me very much time to make my connections so coming out, I need someone's cell number so I can text if I am going to be late.
I'm sorry it's such a mess. If anyone can help me get to the airport and back, I would be very grateful, as I am still without a job and have very little money left. :'(

Important update:
As part of the Labour Day Meeting SST has organized a meet & greet event with composers on Sunday, Sep.2nd.
Place of this event is:
Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, Actors Room
N.Highland Avenue (near our hotel and Hollywood Bowl) Los Angeles/Hollywood.
We have the room all day but meeting time is scheduled at 2.00pm but is depending on our guests schedules.
Admission is free for VIP-members, non VIP's and non-members will pay a fee of $ 15
Beverages are on own expenses except for water, coffee or tea.
Composers who were invited and have acknowledged their presence are:
-Christopher Young
-Ryan Shore
-George Shaw
-Reinhold Heil
This listing is not finalized yet and depending on the guests agenda.
Max. number of participants in meeting room: 40

Dutch, that is so awesome! Wow this weekend is really getting to be something...since there is a seating limit, do we need to reserve spots beforehand, or is it a first come, first serve basis? Either way, I'm in!
This will be great, an also leave time to get dinner and such before the David Newman concert.

One minor point:
I must disappoint all the members who were looking forward to see the SST-stand for real.
As the budget is going real fast through the chimney I could not afford to pay around $500 to fly the stand along with me. (it's an extra suitcase + overweight, and they charge heavily that on an outbound USA flight)
I will bring the counter though, so you can all admire Novakat's artwork instead.

I just want to make sure I have everything set before we arrive. My husband may join us so would he be considered non-member and pay the $15? I'm assuming VIP-members means VIP subscribers on the site here.

Ok here is my itinerary.
cantus and I will arrive on Thursday at 8:15 at Union Station. Train 3 Southwest Chief. We will have a rental car.
staying at the Hollywood Motel 8. I hope the desk staff is more pleasant and competent than the Indian woman I spoke with a couple weeks ago to change my reservation from a single King to 2 double beds.
Thusday and Friday are open days, looking for things to do.
Sat. FOFM and JW concert.
Sun. SST meet and DN concert
Monday depart LA Union Station at 6:15pm train 4 Southwest Chief.
so much fun.

Good idea Istagi! Here is our itinerary:
Hubby and I will arrive at 9A at LAX getting shuttle to the hotel.
Staying at the Best Western Hollywood Plaza Inn.
Depending how I handle flying (haha oh gawd) we will try to visit Universal Studios Thursday afternoon and Disney Land on Friday. (Anyone is free to join us if you want!) May just walk around Thursday to see the sites.
Saturday JW concert and maybe Universal if we don't make it Thursday.
Sunday SST meet and DN concert.
Leave Monday at 12P from LAX.
I'll be good once the darn plane lands in LA. -dead-

Dutch that's awesome! Can't wait. Saturday and Sunday look pretty booked now but going to be so much fun. 40 is a good number since there are only 14 people that are coming to DN. |
