FIMUCITÉ participates at the Krakow Film Music Festival performing the spectacular “Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony”

The composer and director of this unavoidable appointment with film music, Diego Navarro, will conduct on May 26, for the second time, the Closing Concert of this important European event, with a program including Elliot Goldenthal’s works

The VI Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), which will be held from July 7 to 14, sponsored by Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Canary Islands Government and Santa Cruz and Arona City Councils, will be at the spectacular Closing Night Gala of the V Festiwal Muzyki Filmowej (FMF) in Krakow. Diego Navarro, FIMUCITÉ’s director, will conduct “Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony”, which was worldwide premiered at FIMUCITÉ 3 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of director Ridley Scott’s film “Alien”.

The strong and stable relationship between FIMUCITÉ and the Polish FMF becomes more evident being this the second time the prestigious Sinfonietta Cracovia, and Pro Musica Mundi Choir, will be conducted by Diego Navarro, having received an ovation of more than 4,000 people last year. The program will include, apart from the aforementioned “Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony”, a second half featuring an Oscar Academy Award Winner Elliot Goldenthal extended program, with cues from “Titus Andronicus”, “Interview with a Vampire”, “Frida” or "Batman Forever".

From an original idea by Pedro Mérida, FIMUCITÉ’s producer, “Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony” has had the personal involvement of the composers John Frizzell (“Alien: Resurrection”) and Brian Tyler (“Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem”), as well as the contributions given by the record producer Robert Townson. Elliot Goldenthal himself will attend this concert in Krakow, who will be presenting an expanded “Alien 3” version with new arrangements.
“Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony” includes music from the four films belonging to the famous science fiction saga, plus one from “Alien vs. Predator: Requiem”. The selected cues from “Alien” (1979) are “Main Title”, “The Landing”, “Breakaway”, “The Droid”, “The Door” and “End Title”, all composed by Jerry Goldsmith. From “Aliens” (1986), James Horner’s cues are “Futile Escape” and “Bishop’s Countdown” and Elliot Goldenthal’s “Lento” and “Adagio” are the selection from “Alien 3” (1992). John Frizzell’s “Suite” from “Alien: Resurrection” (1997) and Brian Tyler’s “Requiem” for “Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem” conclude this ambitious selection.

DVD edition

The American film music label Varèse Sarabande has just released a 2-disc set including a DVD and a CD of “Alien: A Biomechanical Symphony”, the recording of this symphonic work premiered at FIMUCITÉ 3 in 2009. This deluxe edition will delight all the saga lovers, as well as the film music fans in general.
This limited edition of 3,000 copies includes a DVD of the concert and a CD of the music from the aforementioned Symphony. A beautiful DVD booklet is also included.
