FIMUCITÉ confirms Alberto Iglesias as guest of honor at its 6th edition
The attendance of Pedro Almodovar’s favorite composer will strengthen the repertoire of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra on July 13, which will perform some of the works that have consolidated the prolific relationship between the composer and the Spanish most international director
The VI Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), which will be held from July 7 to 14, sponsored by Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Canary Islands Government and Santa Cruz and Arona City Councils, will have in 2012 the prestigious composer Alberto Iglesias as a guest of honor, worldwide known by his relationship with the Spanish most international director, Pedro Almodóvar.
His attendance to the Spanish film music event par excellence, besides his prestige and his long professional career, is due to the two Spanish Film Music Critics Awards he has won at its 8th edition, organized by the prestigious website Scoremagacine. The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra will perform an outstanding selection of the works that have consolidated the prolific relationship between the composer and the director at the first of the two FIMUCITÉ symphonic concerts, to be held on July 13 at Auditorio de Tenerife “Adán Martín”.
Specifically, the Spanish Film Music Critics Awards Alberto Iglesias has won are: Best Spanish Composer Award (for his works for “La Piel que Habito”, “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” and “Le Moine”) and Best Spanish Score Award for “La Piel que Habito”. It is worth pointing out that John Williams has won the Best Foreign Composer Award and “War Horse”, directed by Steven Spielberg, the Best Foreign Score Award.
According to Miguel Ordóñez, editor of Scoremagacine, “the Almodóvar-Iglesias relationship has been consolidated, and in chronological order, along “Todo sobre mi madre”, “La mala educación”, “Hable con ella”, “Volver” and “La Piel que Habito”.
He has also pointed out that this is not the first time Iglesias has won a Spanish Film Music Critics Award. He has also won the Best Spanish Composer Award for “The Constant Gardener” in 2005 and the Best Spanish Score Award for “Los abrazos rotos” in 2009.
The Awards, organized by the website Scoremagacine, are formed by specialists who write for Dirigido Por, La Guía del Ocio, Catalunya Radio, TV3, El Cine de lo que yo te Diga, COPE, EsRadio, Imágenes de Actualidad, among others. |

Great news! Thanks Cal!
I really like the music of Iglesias (not Julio ) _________________ Human beings are divided into mind and body. The mind embraces all the nobler aspirations, like poetry and philosophy, but the body has all the fun - Woody Allen |
