The King and I
1956 musical film made by 20th Century Fox, directed by Walter Lang, based on the stage musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II (also famous for Oklahoma! and The Sound of Music). It is probably the best-known variation of many based on the fictionalized story of a British schoolteacher who becomes governess to the children of the king of Siam. Besides the starring turn for Yul Brenner, cast also features Deborah Kerr (singing voiced by Marni Nixon who may be heard here on the West Side Story ST), and Rita Moreno.
The film won five Academy Awards of its nine total nominations, including a WIN for BEST MUSICAL SCORE (1957) to Alfred Newman and Ken Darby... themselves multiple-time nominees/winners for film scores.
Audio samples for all 21 tracks available at the Amazon store link above. Despite its being an older film, the CD is a 2001 remaster put out by Angel Records under their Classic Musicals line; they are also behind the Oklahoma! re-release so sound quality should be happily comparable.

I know some people don't like musicals, but these guys were the best! You can't help but enjoy the music, even if you aren't a big fan of musicals (IMHO).
