I got official confirmation today that all "karnets" I asked for are booked for us! \O/
Next week I will know exact seat numbers for our group.

That means everyone on the list below (including "maybe list") has a booked place in the audience of all festival concerts.

Important thing is to let me know immediately or at least as soon as possible (here in this topic or by PM) in case any of you will not come to Kraków.

Don't wait to the last moment with this kind of info, please. I hope to see you all in Kraków but I also understand sometimes life can get in the way and things not always go as planned. Keeping me updated on your situation gives me a chance to use tickets in some other way or even to return them to organizers in time to get refund.

As of today I still have two tickets left for late calls.

Here are SSTers whom I have on my list for "karnets" so far:

- Dutchbat
- SiriusCreations
- Tonks
- Finn
- molossus
- Desmo
- Sabat_ka
- olaziolek
- joshrob +2
- Hati
- Andycutu
- Nathanael
- Cal
- hwh
- DallasTreado
- Karen2
- MickTesso + 5
- Kotek (will come only for a weekend concerts)
- Scorefreak
- Maciek Dobrowolski (composer)
- Leina
- Mjunic
- Girlfriend
- Pit3r

I will pay for our passes next week. Will let you know about a price and way of paying me back, soon.

Thanks Mol, for organising this ticket purchase.
I will renew our contact with the Krakow HQ (aka hotel) to see if we can have another promotion on our rooms again.
I'll have the outcome of that posted here.

Thanks for info Birhar! It's not too late.
However it's sad to hear you won't be in Kraków this year.
I'm looking forward to meeting you in Kraków in 2014 or maybe in Ghent before that.

\0\ /0/ \0/
for Abel

I like it when FMF sales are going by row instead of seats
The SST-stand will be there too.
And (!) I have an idea for the T-shirts but must check if it's technically doable.

Specialists from Hollywood will conduct workshops in Alvernia Studios during FMF

For the first time in the history of the FMF – Film Music Festival in Krakow, we invite young composers to attend free workshops in Alvernia Studios. They will be conducted by the best specialists in the industry, including Professor Daniel Carlin – Director of Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television, the most prestigious department in this industry, at USC’s Thornton School of Music, or Dennis S. Sands – a sound engineer collaborating regularly with famous composers like Alexandre Desplat, Danny Elfman or Alan Silvestri. The deadline for registration is the 14th of August. If you want to attend the workshops, just send an e-mail to: programowy@biurofestiwalowe.pl (enter WARSZTATY in the subject line) and attach a short CV. ATTENTION: the number of places is limited (maximum 30 persons). Workshops will be conducted in English.

‘For the last few years we have been building a network of contacts in Hollywood and have reached the most important and the most sought-after specialists of the industry. And we have done it all in order to inaugurate professional workshops and masters’ classes for young composers from Poland and abroad this year. Together with them, we want to show how to make film music professionally,’ says Izabela Helbin, Director of the Krakow Festival Office.

Workshops will also be conducted by guests of this year’s FMF, including composers: Trevor Morris, Don Davis, Alberto Iglesias, Robert Elhai – a regular collaborator of Elliot Goldenthal and Brian Tyler, and Michael Todd – Senior Director of Film and TV Music of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and a large group of Polish experts connected, among others, with Alvernia Studios, the Academy of Music in Krakow, or the Faculty of Intermedia of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
Workshops will last four days (from the 25th till the 28th of September) and will take place in Alvernia Studios – the biggest and the most modern film studio in Poland. This will be an opportunity for young artists to make use of top-class equipment and software under the direction of sound engineers, music postproduction specialists, recording session managers, arrangers and renowned composers. They will learn how to make film music in Hollywood.

‘Since the beginning, FMF has had the ambition to build multi-aspect international co-operation. It has connected renowned composers with the mass audience, large world film studios interested in the development of a new type of entertainment, excellent performers and experts in music production. It is time to make use of the position and trust that we have won and make a further step towards the professional education of young composers,’ emphasises Robert Piaskowski, Programming Director of FMF.

Education in the composition of music for new media is absent from curricula of most art schools. Private companies and studios organise paid thematic training courses, but, even though they are popular, they do not provide an immediate opportunity for international career and contacts. ‘We are proud to say that our workshops are the first complete course of this kind in Poland,’ says Robert Piaskowski.

Workshops and masters’ classes of FMF are the origin of the Audiovisual Forum – postgraduate studies that FMF wants to launch soon in co-operation with Alvernia Studios, the Academy of Music in Krakow, the Faculty of Intermedia of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, the European Games Academy of the Jagiellonian University, the Krakow Film Commission, University of Southern California (Motion Pictures and Television – SMPTV) and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

The full program of workshops and names of all lecturers will be announced soon at www.fmf.fm in the WORKSHOPS tab.
And on the 11th of June we will disclose the details of an international contest for composers, in which works of young artists will be evaluated by the most outstanding personages of the film world.

I got great news from Desmo today! SST member Pit3r will come to Kraków this year! One of "karnets" I still have up for grabs will be for him.

Looking forward to meeting Pit3r in Kraków!

Two more composers have been revealed for Saturday's concert in Kraków this year.

They are: Jan AP Kaczmarek and Diego Navarro.

Probably not very surprising news for those who followed FMF in recent years.
