FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS
AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS
ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
"Another MVP of the picture's below-the-line talent, is Daniel Hart's haunting score. Cripple-creek fiddles pluck away anxiously, cellos drone, banjos twang out with ghostly notes and violins cry into the night sky, creating a sonorous musical backdrop for this brooding picture to lay its ten gallon hat on.” – Indiewire.com
(August 14, 2013– Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on August 13, 2013. The album features original music by Daniel Hart with songs performed by Curtis Heath, Greg Schroeder with Mara Lee Miller, Aaron Kyle, and the film’s Keith Carradine.
“We talked a lot about what kind of instrumentation he had in mind, and I talked to him about what I had in mind after reading the script,” said Hart of his conversation with the film’s writer/director David Lowery. Hart began writing as the film shooting and as they were editing and he was being sent rough cuts he would send music to Lowery.
“We found a couple of key pieces that seemed to work really well for the film, but they both involved a lot of strings and lot of hand claps and knee slaps, sort of body percussion,” he continued. “We spent a lot of time working that into the rest of film and developing that into themes that can be used throughout for various characters and for various scenes.”
Brought to life with exquisite detail and rich cinematography by Bradford Young (winner of the US Dramatic Cinematography Award at Sundance), the gritty landscape of 1970s Texas Hill Country is the backdrop for this mood-drenched collision of love and crime. After his pregnant wife (Rooney Mara) makes one false move during a bloody shootout, a bank robber (Casey Affleck) faces a 25-year sentence that destroys his dreams of a family life. Shot through with the yearning and melancholy of a folk ballad, David Lowery’s directorial breakthrough—one of the most acclaimed films at Sundance and a special Critics’ Week selection at Cannes—extends the Bonnie and Clyde tradition with its breathtaking meditation on the fragility and transience of love.
