I will steal this topic's name to post my New Year's Resolution for 2014:
A couple of years ago Earth passed the point where it was still capable to
self-restore the damage done by humans.
This, and keeping an eye how human societies NOT go along with each other well, drove me to this resolution to go study the works of Thomas R. Malthus.
His 18th century principles have since become more and more realistic and his predictions have become reality.
To have a good judgement on these principles and see how they fit in my own ideas a thorough study is essential.
This will include Malthus' own works and watching and reading other
dystopic works. (e.g. Shakespeare's "life of Timon of Athens" )
Malthus' ideas and having finished Charles Darwin's "Origin of Species" , who was a follower of Malthus, hopefully gives me more direction in how this overpopulated world evolves and how nature reacts on that.
Anyhow, interesting stuff I assume.
