It is canceled and rescheduled to June 26th: "Dear Friends, I am so sad to let you down, but having just had surgery, my doctors have given me strict instructions not to perform in the immediate future to ensure a full recovery. I had hoped that they would change their minds, but I regret they have been insistent. I look forward to seeing you on June 26 in Amsterdam." |

On Saturday (Feb. 14th, 2015) I attended Ennio Morricone concert in Kraków (part of "Ennio Morricone - My Life in Music" tour).
It was nice concert with good orchestra (Czech National Symphony Orchestra) and a big choir (76 members of Kodály Choir from Hungary). The audience had a chance to listen to a lot of well known themes and some less popular tracks too, conducted by the great composer himself.
I was looking forward to hear Dulce Pontes performing live but due to health problems she was absent this time. Well, bad luck...
Some of SSTers know the venue (Kraków Arena) already because Film Music Festival in Kraków used it last year. This time I was sitting much higher (not at the floor level) and the sound experience was better (I didn't hear any echoes).
Here is the programme of the concert:
1. The Untouchables - The Strength Of The Righteous
2. Once Upon A Time In America - Deborah's Theme
3. Once Upon A Time In America - Once Upon A Time In America
4. Legend Of 1900 - 1900's Theme
5. H2S - H2S
6. The Sicilian Clan - Il Clan Dei Siciliani
7. Metti, una sera a cena - Metti, una sera a cena
8. Metti, una sera a cena - Uno Che Grido Amore
9. Maddalena - Come Maddalena
10. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
11. Once Upon A Time In The West - Once Upon A Time In The West Theme
12. Giù la testa - Giù la testa
13. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly - The Ecstasy Of Gold
Intermission
1. Le Professionnel - Chi Mai
2. Cinema Paradiso - Cinema Paradiso
3. Cinema Paradiso - Love Theme For Nata
4. Malena - Malena
5. La Battaglia Di Algeri - Algeri: 1 Novembre 1954 (?)
6. Sostiene Pereira - Sostiene Pereira
7. La classe operaia va in paradiso - La classe operaia va in paradiso
8. Casualties Of War - Casualties Of War
9. Queimada - Abolicao
10. The Mission - Gabriel's Oboe
11. The Mission - Falls
12. The Mission - On Earth As It Is In Heaven
Encores:
13. A Rose Among Thorns with Italian lyrics (based on Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission) sung by Polish soprano Joanna Jakubas
14. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly - The Ecstasy Of Gold
15. The Mission - On Earth As It Is In Heaven
Two hours of very good music.
The venue was not full but I think it was mailnly due to very high prices of tickets. I didn't plan to attend this concert at first but then I decided to join fellow SST members and my relatives (Jarrick, Milga and Kordeg). I'm glad I could watch maestro Morricone conducting the orchestra and playing some of his great outstanding. He seemed to be in a very good shape what was also very impressive to see.
