|
A Special Gala Concert with one of the musical legends of our time will inaugurate Italian Far East Film Festival 17 in Udine: Thursday 23 April at 20:30 Joe Hisaishi will perform for the very first time in Italy at Teatro Nuovo “Giovanni da Udine”, where he will also be awarded the "Gelso d'Oro" lifetime achievement award.
A true music legend at home, Mr Hisaishi is not just an artist rather than the sum of different artistic souls: composer, pianist, conductor, director, writer. An iconic figure widely connected to his wonderful soundtracks written for Miyazaki Hayao and Takeshi Kitano's masterpieces, as well as the marvellous "Departures" by Takita Yojiro.

Concert was announced 2-3 days ago and more than 300 tickets have been sold already. It's his first Italian performance and if I'm not wrong also the first one in Europe since Krakow in 2011 (still biting my hands about that one). And I'll probably miss it again
Udine is reachable by car from Trieste or Venice airport (or, with some more faff, with coach to station+train), although not really a major city. This is why it's going to be such a special event.
And of course I wonder: does this possibly mean more concerts around Europe? Has anyone heard anything? Nothing on his website. |

I couldn't find any other concerts either.
Pity it is on the same day as the Prague Event.
I think Festivals should have more conferring over their dates.
But thanks for placing the news here, Xalira
Looking forward to meeting you in London soon. _________________

As far as I can tell (including Japanese sources ), there is no other European concert planned for the time being.
A pity indeed! _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |
