So can I assume that SST has no interest in adding the complete and expanded score to Back to the Future Part II, released by Intrada in 2015.
I guess listeners and SST are content with the original incomplete 1989 release? |

I think so too, Marty
The alternates are not that much different and are not used in the movie.
For BttF3 there's also source music that we don't allow on SST.
So, apart from personal donation, I don't think it's wise to spend much-needed cash from SST for that. _________________

First of all for Part II, the original 1989 release contains only roughly 30 minutes of the original score. The 2015 release contains an additional 30+ minutes of the complete score, plus alternates.
The source music for Part III - all newly conducted music by Silvestri in 1990 for the film, just not composed by him. I wouldn't think that would have been a problem.
Final thoughts. Considering that the Back to the Future Trilogy is one of the most acclaimed and beloved movie franchises in motion picture history, and it's complete iconic film scores have been requested by fans and film score fans for years in an official release, I find it incredibly disappointing that SST wouldn't include such an important piece of film music into their library. I find it even more strange that SST would rather have The Back to the Future Trilogy soundtrack, which tracks 1 through 12 are not from the original score, but a re-recording conducted by John Debney, rather than have the complete original scores composed and conducted by Silvestri.
As a regular listener to SST, it somewhat confuses and disappoints me that there are so many inductions of soundtracks with less than stellar scores, or soundtracks & scores to films and video games that a lot of us have never even heard of, yet Back to the Future remains at the bottom of that list to add. |
