The World Soundtrack Academy has announced the first wave of nominees for the 2016 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories Film Composer of the Year, Best TV Composer and Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film. The winners will be announced at the World Soundtrack Awards & concert on Wednesday, October 19, the closing night of the Ghent International Film Festival. Here are the nominations:

As previously announced, The Lifetime Achievement
Award will be presented to Ryuichi Sakamoto, following the festival’s spotlight on Japanese cinema. A selection of his work will be performed by Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by Dirk Brossé. Following the Award Ceremony, a concert will celebrate the best scores for contemporary TV-serie on October 20th 2016.

You can also nominate your favorite score by voting for the Public Choice Award on the website.

You can cast your vote for your favorite soundtrack of the past 12 months (for any feature film released between 1 JULY, 2015 and 30 JUNE, 2016) from the list. By selecting ‘Vote’ next to your favorite soundtrack from the list, you will enter an online form. Fill out the form and press ‘Submit your vote’. Is your favorite soundtrack not on the list? Add it by clicking the ‘cast you personal vote here’.
Voting is possible between 1 July and 9 Sept 2016.
