I leave these "movies" for the anime freaks Wink

I don't consider that a serious attempt to make a good epic. Its a good one for its genre though. Laughing

How many of you have seen the one from 1938 anyway?

1938 Version of Robin Hood???

Errol Flynn (of "Captian Blood" fame) and Olivia de Havilland (from "Gone with the Wind") ... Great Flick.

If you like oldies 1938 and 1939 almost guarantee a good flick.

Try

Captian's Couragous
-Spencer Tracy/won best actor I believe for this role

Mr. Deeds Goes to Town
- Gary Cooper & Jean Arthur / a Capra Film

I also like other stuff from Frank Capra like ...

"You Can't Take It With You" Jimmy Stewart
"Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" Cary Grant

I give any film by Frank Capra a big thumbs up Smile.

Doh!!! .... soundtracks may stink on these films, but good viewing anyway, lol

The '38 Robin Hood is without a doubt the classic one... Errol Flynn definitely rocks! And the music is still great!

However I have to admit that I actually like the newer version with Patrick Bergen and Uma Thurman best. I think it gives a little better version of the history (in the contexts of the Normans and Saxons). Score was soso though.

Now both Prince of Thieves (silly movie) and the Michael Praed, Robin of Sherwood have excellent scores! And the Robin of Sherwood was also a good version!

I have to put in my 2 cents - The Disney animated film sits on top of the list. Come on, was that English fox not the coolest? And Baloo the bear for Little John? Who can compete w/ that? Men In Tights is a close second though.

What is the story behind Robin Hood anyway? I mean the real historical background. I was loafing in a library once and saw a book. I tried to read part of it but it was in Old English I think.

Disney Version?

I doubt many of you morons have even seen the 1930's version.

Of course, because I rule, I'll actually be seeing a restored print being projected digitally this week at a nearby theater.
