xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE
ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
Featuring Original Music By Brian Tyler and Robert Lydecker
(January 23, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA) – Varèse Sarabande will release the soundtrack for xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE digitally on January 27 and on CD February 17, 2017. The film features original music composed by Brian Tyler (AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, FURIOUS 7) and Robert Lydecker (LOVE, SIMPLY, TV’s SLEEPY HOLLOW).
The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series’ signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film.
“xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE is a wild movie and it needed a score to reflect the vibe that Xander Cage and his team has: attitude, skill, and a sense of humor about oneself.” said Tyler. “The music features an amazing orchestra which captures the emotion and epic qualities while the rock elements of the score reflect his hardcore attitude of the entire team in the film.”
Brian Tyler is a composer and conductor of over 70 films and was named Film Composer of the Year at the 2014 Cue Awards. Tyler composed blockbuster hits AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, FURIOUS 7, IRON MAN 3. He conducted the London Philharmonic, the Philharmonia of London, and the Hollywood Studio Symphony for those films. He also scored EAGLE EYE, FAST FIVE and FAST & FURIOUS for director Justin Lin. He was inducted into the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2010.
Tyler began scoring features shortly after he received his master's degree from Harvard University, as well as a bachelor's degree from UCLA. He also scored NOW YOU SEE ME, THE EXPENDABLES films, RAMBO, LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, CONSTANTINE, and the science-fiction film BATTLE LOS ANGELES. He has received three EMMY® Award nominations, ten BMI Music Awards, five ASCAP Music Awards, and recently won 12 Goldspirit Awards, including Composer of the Year. His soundtrack for CHILDREN OF DUNE reached #4 on the Amazon.com album charts while AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, FURIOUS 7, THOR: THE DARK WORLD, IRON MAN 3, and FAST FIVE all hit #1 on the iTunes soundtrack charts. Upcoming films for Tyler include SABAN’S POWER RANGERS, THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS and THE MUMMY.
Robert Lydecker is an EMMY®-nominated composer. He currently scores the Fox TV show SLEEPY HOLLOW along with composer Brian Tyler and the ABC series DESIGNATED SURVIVOR with Sean Callery. Lydecker has worked with Tyler and other composers including Trevor Morris and Mark Isham on film and game projects such as AVENGERS II: AGE OF ULTRON, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, Iron Man 3, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, The Expendables II & III, Olympus Has Fallen and THE CRAZIES. He also penned the theme for PBS’s JUST SEEN IT.
“The director [DJ Caruso] and I have worked together on many films and each one has been so different!” Tyler explained. “We set out to tackle this score like we always do which is starting with the tone. And we felt that this needed to feel epic, global, and fun at the same time. It was awesome working with him once again!”
Paramount Pictures & Revolution Studios present xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE in theaters nationwide on January 20, 2017. Varèse Sarabande will release the soundtrack for xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE digitally on January 27 and on CD February 17, 2017.
