I ripped one of my Soundtrack CDs to ogg out of boredom and curiosity.

Dang, way better than MP3! I now need to rip the others too :-)

It's really sweet that Ogg is back again. However, as nice at it is, 64K doesn't really sound as good as the old 128K MP3 streams did. I know I said that they did earlier in this thread, but I've changed my mind now...

I really have no clue about your bandwidth costs, but a 96K Ogg stream would be appreciated, if it's not a pain to add it. Then again - since it isn't here, I guess you've decided not to. Oh, well.

Ogg64k is 1/5th the cost of mp3 128k. We might bump the quality up a little bit on the Ogg streams once they start to become popular, and IF they do.

I think so too. Maybe we should post a poll?

And IF more of you regulars donate. The dough you give doesn't go into Jeric's pocket. It goes towards buying streams, and more albums.

Jeric and I put up our own dough to acquire the Ogg streams. At the last minute we were able to add a few more streams to that as well as Live365 thanks to a donation by MattW. Donate. Tell us what you want.

Hell, you guys make the Ogg streams popular enough and Jeric might be tempted to convert the source files themselves all over to Ogg (all 22,000+ of them) and then the streams will sound even better than they do already. Wink

P.S. Remember donations can be in cash, bandwidth. Even purchases made for yourselves on amazon can send some dough SST's way. All you have to do is acess Amazon through SST's banner and we'll see something.

P.S.S. And no one's going to think you're a doofus for only donating a couple bucks. Every little bit helps.
