I am fully aware that the chat is not a high security application, and it was never meant to be that either. When I started working on the chat my main goal was to make it work fast and easy. This includes no logging-in and a minimum of security code. During my time at SST I have never encountered anyone wanting to really mess up the forum or the rest of the site, so I am hoping this will be the reality in the chat as well. On the other hand if any of you 1337 \/\/4/\//\/4835 continue to experiment with your rather non-w3c-compliant HTML stunts in the chat, the first thing I will create is a blocking-feature (<-*hint*). Implementing a log-in feature with good security takes about half an hour to copy/paste and get to work properly, and it will result in you having to log in every time you want to cha... eh, lurk. It will also suck more bandwith and probably be less cross-browser compatible. The security will be improved in the future but we are prioritizing other things first. An alternative is to remove the chat for a few weeks while I'm working on it and other stuff. Anyways, I believe I have made my point. Now the rest is up to you.
