Does this mean 96k, when uncompressed is now equivalent to the old 128k streams?
Also, do you know if there is a freeware version of the software?
Thanks! |

When utilizing the mp3PRO codec on 96k it will sound as good as the original mp3. Most of my mp3s are at 128k so that would be the max it could sound like. So to answer you question, yes the 96k is equivalent to the 128k.
Also, the now 32k sounds more like an 64-80k mp3!
I recommend installing the codec for Winamp 2.x instead of the software. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

I don't think it sounds like 128k... eh. I don't know. Could be psychological. I thought it sounded better without the codec for some reason. It just sounds.. weird with the codec to me. I don't know how to describe it. |

It is psychological, 44KHz with codec is better than 22 KHz without it :-)
But the problem is with the THOMSON codec is that I don't have trackinfo in my winamp I only got:
Code: |
[streamingsoundtracks.com] http://<stream-IP> - MP3pro |
Anyone else got that too? I am using winamp 2.90 with all the settings in thomson enabled. |

Hi, to get the song titles during streaming, there is an option in the config panel,
go to preference/plug-ins/Input/Thomson mp3PRO decoder
then Configure, and in the General tab, check "enable Shout/Ice cast title Streaming"
et voila |

Looks like I might need to add something else to the newbie FAQ for ol' Mister Cal. |

Puh, not my fault that winamp.com is behind with plugins on their site. www.winamp.com got version 1.0.
That option is included in version 1.1 (they are at 1.2 now)
So fixed here. And yes it can be a good addition to the FAQ. |

Cocles my dear, I was one of the first testers of de codec. Jeric asked in the chat to test it out. That was *before* Jeric put it in the frontpage. He didn't gave me a link, I found the coded meself on www.winamp.com.
But dont be afraid mate, I still consider you a friend |

Or maybe you could have just typed "mp3pro" in google like the rest of us.
Or even better, acted like the savvy internet stud you claim to be and actually gone to the author's homepage and downloaded it from there. Since anyone who's been online for more than a month knows that is always the best place to find the newest version.
But it's okay Cally. I still consider you a friend too.

... or I could read the FAQ on the webcaster's website. But it is not there so I have to ask in the forum if anyone else got the problem.
Why isn't that an option? Sounds logical to me :-) |

True, but you would never bother doing that anyway, as was indicated by you not knowing how to log out the night before.
When I asked you if you had read the FAQ to find a solution your reply was, "But it's for newbies!"

It took you an HOUR to come up with that!?
Oh and by the way... The spelling is fixed in the most recent version of the faq at the beginning of this thread.
But then again, we've already established that you have trouble locating the latest versions, haven't we? |

Why do I suddenly have a sense of Deja Vu, and why am I not surprised that Cocles is involved? |
