SST VIP Subscription, Contest, Playlist Update & Thanks

Posted on Saturday, August 14, 2004 by JERIC

SST VIP Subscription
We are now experimenting with a program that will reward Live365 VIP Members. Live365 VIP Members will have have less ads on SST, a full queue, and be able to request at all times (more to come). Requests may be restricted to VIP's only during peak times due to the very long queue wait times. In order to become a SST VIP Subscriber you will have to sign up as a Live365 VIP Member for a minimum of 1 year. Live365 will send you a confirmation email after your 5 day trial with your next billing date in it. Simply forward that email to webmaster(AT)streamingsoundtracks.com [replace (AT) with @] and we will set you as a subscriber to SST for as long as you signed up for a Live365 VIP Membership (minimum 1 year). This is still in the experimental stage so VIP access will be available most of the time for non-VIPs, but only for a limited time.

SST Contest
Create SST Wallpaper, Stationary, Flyer, Business Card, etc. (use you imagination)! We're really hoping for a cool SST Wallpaper (ranging from 800x600 to 1600x1200). The winner(s) will receive: Urban Legend, Laws Of Attraction, Alex North's 2001, Back To The Future III, Forrest Gump, Gettysburg, Treasure Quest, Lion King 1 & 2, and Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. We may add more prizes as the contest develops. We're looking for one person to win it but it is possible that there will be a tie and if that happens, the winners will have to divvy up the prizes. The winners' work will also be placed in the SST Downloads section. The contest ends this Halloween.

Added the following soundtracks to the playlist:
Clearing, The - Craig Armstrong
Far From Heaven - Elmer Bernstein **
French Lieutenant's Woman, The - Carl Davis *
Jason And The Argonauts - Bernard Herrmann **
Journey Of Man - Cirque Du Soleil
Man In The Moon , The - James Newton Howard *
Miller's Crossing - Carter Burwell
Mystere - Cirque Du Soleil
Nouvelle Experience - Cirque Du Soleil

Outlaws - Clint Bajakian
QB VII - Jerry Goldsmith **
Rounders - Christopher Young *

This is kind of Sad, I really liked what you guys were doing with your business model.. (at least it seemed like you were relying on Advertising.)

95% of the appeal of this place was being able to choose from a nice library.. but I am sure as hell not going to pay for it.

I fell in love with this site a few weeks ago when I first discovered it. I really liked that, despite long queues, I could expect to get a couple of requests played each day. And since SO MANY people could make requests, the variety of music was always fresh. I figured I would donate a CD or some money at some point when I could afford to, but I have no desire to sign up for Live 365. I would rather pay you directly if that were a choice.

So I'm disappointed and hope this VIP model doesn't remain in effect. I don't really like visiting a site where there are the VIPs and then everyone else. I wish you guys the best of luck regardless and thank you for a few weeks of enjoyment.

I figure I should make another post so that some of you newbies can read it easier...

First thing~ There is a discussion about the VIP membership in the forums... under general. it will be right at the top...

Next thing~ There are lots of you out here who feel you cannot handle this vip thing, or the lack of requesting... To those of you who are new, I say stick around! Maybe you can learn a bit about us old timers, and why things had to go this VIP route.

Now there are VIP's such as myself who will donate a request towards some of you tight wads. If you see that I am on the site, say something in the chat, or even PM me... I'll try to take care of you...
