monothematic Doyle-Score
By: cosinusomikron
Date: 12 Dec 2009
Rating:
The Soundtrack of "Eragon" is a typical Patrick Doyle with his unique handwriting, sometimes very similar to his score for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". As Doyle is best, when he's able to act aut his melodical talent, he brings a beautiful main theme to his score. This theme is heard during the entire soundtrack, as heroic Fanfare as well as melancholic elegy. Furthermore, the music is greatly played by the outstanding London Symphony Orchestra. Therefore this album is a colourful fantasy-soundtrack with a great main theme, but sadly it offers nothing more than this one theme and its variations, a deficit caused by the film. The soundtrack is better than the not completely felicitous film in any case, though.
