listening on winamp now. _________________ If you have it you don't need it. If you need it you don't have it. You need it to get it and you certainly need it to get more of it. Which means you don't have it to begin with people just know. |

I never used WinAmp until version 5 came out...and now I use it almost exclusively. Prior to that I used Zinf which is an open source player (and a very good one, too, it's just that WinAmp 5 has more features).
I hope that WinAmp isn't dead. Or that if AOL is no longer going to develop the software, that they'll open up the source code and let something like what's happened with Mozilla/Netscape take place. Unlikely, though. |

I use WinAmp too sometimes. 5.05 seems to be working great so far for me. (I just installed it a few days ago)

AOL, open source the code? *pff* As if they'd bother... They more than likely arrange some hackeneyed team to try to take over the project first.
There seems to be quite an argument going on over at the official forums, with nobody really knowing whats going on. Some say Winamp will live on as the report is incorrect in a number of ways, others say that its due to die a death owing to its internal architecture and reliance on legacy support, so its dead in the water even if the report is wrong...
Curiouser, and curiouser thought Alice... |

Well, all I have to say is that I've been using Winamp for about five years now and I will continue to do so into the foreseeable future. |

I'm pretty sure Winamp is dead. As in no more new versions. Which sucks! I've used the player for years and its great! I know I'm keeping it as my music player. Nothing can beat it! _________________ Stargate SG1

I guess I should have run a poll:
What do you use to listen to SST?
since that's what this thread turned in to.
I'd guess that if I wasn't so lazy and did the
search that this has already been done, either
in the forums or by JERIC.

Rumor has it that SHOUTcast will die too. Please check out iRadoCast. I hope it will replace SHOUTcast. Unlike SHOUTcast, it will actually develop because there are several people working on it.
The audio player poll is here:
